Bomb Threat at Leonardtown MS; 2 11-Y/O Females Arrested


On 06/02/2006 at approximately 10:00 a.m., a student at Leonardtown Middle School notified school staff that a handwritten note was discovered in a bathroom declaring a bomb threat at the school. The school was evacuated and deputies responded.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two eleven year old females. One was charged with the bomb threat, property destruction, and disruption of school activities. The other was charged with disruption of school activities. Both juveniles were processed and released to the custody of parents. Their names were not released to the public due to their age.

This event closely follows a "student with a gun" scare that occurred at the High school a few weeks ago on May 19th. The high school and middle schools are co-located on property just off of MD Route 5 across from the St. Mary's County fairgrounds. More information on the gun scare can be found at:
