Traffic Stop for Missing Tag Reveals Series of Violations

On 06-03-2006 DFC Michael D. Peacher of the St Mary's County Sheriff's Office was conducting seatbelt enforcement jointly with Maryland State Police and Maryland Naturel Resource Police, at the entrance to Point Lookout State Park. Dfc Peacher observed a 1987 Chevrolet van with no front tag. DFC Peacher conducted a traffic stop, and made contact with the operator Jose Santos Hernandez 25 of Cinton, MD. Further investigation revealed that Jose Hernandez's driving privilege is currently suspended through Virginia. The van he was operating was unregistered, and uninsured. The rear tag on the vehicle belonged to another vehicle, and a small child in the van was not restrained. Jose Hernandez was placed under arrest, and transported to the St Mary's County Detention Center, for the above violations.
