MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


On Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 11:50, TFC L. Nims attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 237 at Pegg Road, Lexington Park, for having suspended vehicle registration. The driver, Stephen Bernard Guy, 45, of Loveville, attempted to flee but was apprehended on Tammie Drive. A cigarette box containing crack cocaine was recovered. Mr. Guy was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of CDS paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding, DUI and other traffic violations. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing. (0682005898)

On Monday, June 5, 2006 at 12:15 pm, TFC P. Trossbach stopped a vehicle on Route 5 at Route 243, Leonardtown, for having a cracked windshield. Upon contact with the driver, Daniel Joseph Frome, 24, of Cockeysville, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. A probable cause search was conducted. Located in his pants pocket was a container of marijuana. Mr. Frome was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing. (0682006078)

On Saturday, June 7, 2006, TFC L. Nims initiated an investigation into a reported theft by deception case. The victim advised that she found a house for sale on Southern Maryland Online and gave $4,000 deposit to the seller. When the victim went to sign the contact, it was determine that the seller did not own the property. The investigation is continuing. (0682006150)

On Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 6:00 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Morganza Turner Road at Laurel Grove Road, Morganza, for driving on the wrong side of the road. A check through MVA revealed the driver, Steven Roger Jerome Jr., 19, of Leonardtown, was suspended. Mr. Jerome was placed under arrest and a search conducted. Located in his pants pocket was a straw containing cocaine. He was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing. (0682006157)

On Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 12:40 am, Tpr. E. Evans stopped a vehicle for failing to stop for a red light at Route 235 and Route 237 in California. The driver was identified as Scott Andrew David, 25, of California. A check through MVA indicated his license was suspended. During a search incident to arrest, a smoking device containing marijuana was located in the center console. Mr. Davis was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and traffic offenses. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing. On Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 10:56 pm, Tpr. E. Evans responded to Forest Park Rd at Long Lane, Lexington Park, for a reported motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by Scott Daniel Herndon, 20, of Lexington Park, had struck a stop sign. During conversation with Mr. Herndon, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Mr. Herndon was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed a bag of marijuana in his pants pocket. Mr. Herndon was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and related traffic offenses. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing. (0682006205)

On Friday, June 9, 2006 at 8:16 am, TFC M. Moore served Geoffrey Daryl Daniels Jr., 22, of Lexington Park, with a summons to appear in court for failing to perform community service. (DB24343)

On Friday, June 9, 2006 at 8:06 pm, Tpr. K. Shughart stopped a vehicle for speeding on Roberts Welding Lane in Mechanicsville. Upon contact with the driver, a marijuana cigarette was observed on the driver’s door. When the driver was arrested, he gave a false name. Further investigation revealed the driver’s true identity to be De-Andre Eugene Ford, 19, of Capitol Heights. A check through NCIC indicated Mr. Ford had an open warrant in Prince Georges County. Mr. Ford was served the warrant, charged with possession of marijuana and other traffic offenses. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing. (0682006242)

On Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10:20 am, TFC M. Moore arrested Suzanne Emely Garner, 40, of Lusby, on a bench warrant for violation of probation. She was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held on no bond. (Q00023842)

On Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 3:26 pm, Tpr. K. Shughart responded to Lexington Park 7-11 for a reported theft. Investigation revealed that the victim’s bicycle had been stolen by Dale Allen Smith, 39, of Great Mills. Mr. Smith was charged, on a criminal citation, with theft under $100 and released from the scene.

On Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 11:23 pm, Tpr. E. Evans stopped a vehicle for failing to drive in a single lane at Route 235 and Buck Hewitt Road in Lexington Park. The driver was identified as John Elmer Chase Jr., 45, of Lexington Park. A MVA check of the vehicle registration revealed that the tags were suspended for compulsory insurance violation and were expired. A check of the year sticker indicated the sticker had been reported stolen. Mr. Chase was charged on a criminal citation for theft under $100, traffic violations, and released from the scene. On Sunday, June 11, 2006 at 12:18 am, TFC P. Trossbach stopped a vehicle for failing to drive in a single lane on Indian Bridge Road at Onion Fields Lane in California. Upon contact with the driver, Justin Ryan Knott, 21, of Leonardtown, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. During a probable cause search, a smoking device containing marijuana was located in the center console. Mr. Knott was charged on a criminal citation with possession of CDS paraphernalia and released from the scene. (0682006296)
