MSP Reports for Calvert County


THEFT: On 6-22, an employee of Northern High School reported that an unknown culprit had vandalized a van, the concession stand, and an area near the bleachers with spraypaint. SGT L. L. Titus is handling the investigation.

DISTRIBUTION OF MARIJUANA: On 6-22, 2:00 PM, TFC Keen stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. After contacting the operator, Marcus Albert Leroy Gantt, III, 22, of Lusby, TFC Keen detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle. Mr. Gantt was then placed under arrest for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. His vehicle and $150.00 were seized pending forfeiture proceedings. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

THEFT: On 6-22, between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM, an unknown culprit forcibly entered a vehicle parked at the Dunkirk CVS and removed a purse. On 6-26, the victim advised TPR Whitman that her purse had been recovered by a jogger on Rt. 261, in the area of Breezy Point. The Victim also advised that her credit card had been used in several locations in Prince Frederick. CIT will continue the investigation.

COUNTERFEIT $: On 6-23, an employee of Thirsty Badger Libations, Rt. 231, Prince Frederick, reported to SGT Ewing that an unknown culprit had purchased merchandise with a counterfeit twenty dollar bill.

THEFT: On 6-23, between 3:45 PM and 4:45 PM, an unknown culprit forcibly entered a vehicle parked at CMH and removed a backpack/purse. At 6:35 PM, the Victim reported to TFC Whipp that the culprit had attempted to use her stolen credit card at the Prince Frederick K-Mart. A store employee described the suspect as an obese white female, 18-25 years old, with red hair. CIT will continue the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On 6-24, between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM, an unknown culprit used fireworks to damage the porch area of a residence on Saw Mill Road and the interior of a vehicle on Planter’s Wharf Rd., Lusby. TPR Bigham is handling the investigation.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6-24, 9:54 AM, TFC Koch responded to the Dunkirk Village Shopping Center for a vehicle that was obstructing traffic. The operator, Brian Patrick Meyers, 21, of Upper Marlboro, who was asleep behind the wheel when TFC Koch approached the vehicle, was subsequently arrested for DUI. Incident to arrest, suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle. In addition to the DUI, Mr. Meyers was charged with possession of marijuana. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6-26, 2:38 AM, TFC Bowling responded to Long Beach, St. Leonard, for a suspicious vehicle. Upon approaching the unoccupied vehicle, TFC Bowling detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and a CDS smoking device, containing suspected marijuana, was located in the vehicle. Investigation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male, of St. Leonard, for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. The juvenile was also charged with underage possession of alcohol and tobacco. After processing, he was released to a parent.

THEFT: On 6-23, TFC Koch responded to Mason Gott, LTD, Owings, for a theft complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had stolen all 4 tires and the chrome-slotted rims from a work truck.

BURGLARY/ATV THEFT: On 6-26, TFC Johns responded to a residence on Broomes Is. Rd., Broomes Island, for a burglary complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had entered a barn on the property and removed a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 700 ATV.

THEFT: On 6-26, between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM, an unknown culprit forcibly entered a vehicle parked on Skipjack Rd., Prince Frederick, and removed a purse. At 1:00 AM, the Victim advised TPR Merkelson that the culprit had attempted to use her credit card at the Prince Frederick Wal-Mart, the Prince Frederick Exxon, and the Dunkirk WaWa. CIT is continuing the investigation.

BURGLARY: On 6-27, TFC Lass responded to a residence on Chesapeake Dr., Lusby, for a burglary complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had entered the residence and removed a kneeboard, dishes, flatware, fishing rods, a tacklebox, a leaf blower, a Homelite chainsaw, DVD’s, CD’s, a Sony CD player, a Samsung DVD player, and a Panasonic stereo.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6-27, 7:00 PM, TPR Ewig responded to a traffic accident on Rt. 4 @ Ward Rd., Dunkirk. While exchanging information with the operator of one of the vehicles involved, TPR Ewig detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and a CDS smoking device, containing suspected marijuana, was located. Arrested at that time for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia was Dennis Jackson Davis, Jr., 20, of Dunkirk. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
