Calvert Man Arrested After Holding His Wife at Gunpoint

The couple was reportedly scheduled to attend a domestic violence hearing later that day in District Court regarding the status of a Protective Order filed by the victim against her husband.

Lusby, MD – A Calvert County man is in custody and awaiting charges after troopers and Calvert deputies responded to the family residence early Friday morning and found him wrestling with his wife over a handgun. Norman Shelton Fuller is currently in the custody of the Calvert Investigative Team (Maryland State Police in conjunction with the Calvert County Sheriffs Department). His wife, Ivory Francis Fuller was questioned and released.

The man is a 33 year-old resident of Lusby. He faces a multitude of criminal charges in connection with the incident. The woman, a 33 year old resident of Lusby, also faces unspecified criminal charges in relation to the incident.

At approximately 8:30: a.m., the couple’s son called the Maryland State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick. The Calvert Control Center then gave a general broadcast for a domestic-related incident at the address on Big Sandy Run Road. Both troopers and Calvert deputies responded to the residence. A Calvert County deputy was the first to arrive. Additional law enforcement personnel arrived moments later upon which they all approached the residence.

The first deputy approached the front door of the residence. He observed the male suspect physically restraining the female with a handgun in his hand. The police then ordered the man to release the victim and he refused. A brief barricade scenario quickly unfolded. A second deputy, who was positioned by the front door, maintained verbal contact with both parties in the residence. After approximately 12 minutes, both subjects exited the residence and surrendered to authorities. There were no injuries to either party.

When investigators checked the residence, several weapons were located. The couple was reportedly scheduled to attend a domestic violence hearing later that day in District Court regarding the status of a Protective Order that Mrs. Fuller had applied for against Mr. Fuller.

The Calvert Investigative Team is continuing the investigation.
