DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On July 27 at 1:06 a.m., suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into the Tiki bar behind Gilligan’s Pier located at 11535 Popes Creek Road in Newburg. The suspect(s) caused minor damage to the wood framing of the bar. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer C. Caldwell is investigating.

ASSAULT: On July 26 at 10:29 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Valley Lane in Newburg for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed the victim, a 26-year-old Newburg man, was walking on a trail between the end of Valley Lane and the rear of a truck stop on Crain Highway. The suspect struck the victim in the face. The victim was able to defend himself and then flee from the suspect. The suspect is described as a white male with a beard, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He may have facial injuries as a result of the victim defending himself. The victim was injured but declined medical treatment. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer C. DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Sometime between 10:30 p.m. July 23 and 6:30 a.m. July 24, suspect(s) damaged the lock on the driver’s side door of a 2000 Honda Civic parked in the 20 block of Keepsake Place in Waldorf. The suspect(s) also scratched the paint on the door but did not successfully enter the vehicle. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Timko is investigating.

ASSAULT: On Aug. 2 at 6:05 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 12200 block of Wendy Lane in Waldorf for the report of a man with a shotgun. Investigation revealed the suspect was let into the residence by the victim’s roommate. The suspect and the roommate had an altercation and the roommate fled to a neighboring residence to call police. The victim, a 49-year-old Waldorf man, was awakened by the suspect who began to beat him, cut his face with a knife and fled the scene. The suspect is described only as a black male and fled in a white vehicle. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Gibson is investigating.
