St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following information regarding recent arrests.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Patrick Handy responded to the Target Store in California, Maryland for the reported theft. Upon arrival it was discovered that Suspect Lashawnda Renee Chase (Age 22 of Lexington Park) had stolen $89.00 worth of music compact discs. The items were returned to the store and Suspect Chase was charged with one count of theft under $100.00 and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center to await a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Brian Connelly responded to a location in the Lexington Park area for the reported theft of a motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that the victim's 1994 Olsmobile was parked in a public location and when he returned he found it missing. Dfc. Connelly located the vehicle and the 14 year old suspect at a Lexington Park Motel. The vehicle was returned to the owner and the juvenile was arrested and processed before being released to his parent. He is currently awaiting a hearing before the Juvenile Court.

Patrol Officers served several outstanding warrants on August 9th, 2006. They are as follows:

Jennifer Lynn Snell-(Age 24 of Mechanicsville, Md) Arrested by Deputy David Cowen for an open warrant through Prince George's County. The warrant was related to a Failure to Appear on the original charge of Theft over $500.00.

Andrew Carl Gates- (Age 21 of Prince Frederick, Md.) Arrested by Dfc. Dale Reppel for an outstanding Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear. The original charge was for Theft under $100.00.

Joseph William Haas III- (Age 43 of California, Md.) Arrested by Dfc. Harold Young for Failure to Appear in the Circuit Court for St. Mary's County. The original charge was Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held without bond.
