Maryland Bank & Trust Robber Identified; Still Wanted


The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has positively identified the suspect involved in a bank robbery on Aug. 12 as William Dillard Irby, 56, of Waldorf. Detectives have obtained a warrant for his arrest and are asking the public for help in locating him. He is described as a white male, is balding with gray hair and has tattoos on his forearms.

At 10:20 a.m., Sheriff’s officers responded to Maryland Bank & Trust located at 3175 Leonardtown Road in Waldorf, where Irby approached a teller, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The teller complied and Irby fled the scene. No one was injured. Irby is also suspected of robbing County First Bank in St. Mary’s County at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 17.
