Mandatory Evacuations Update

A flood warning remains in effect for the county. Be advised of rising waters in coastal and flood prone areas.

As of 5:00 p.m. today, a mandatory evacuation has been issued for all tidal areas. This means if you live on or near the water, you should vacate your home immediately.

Leonardtown High School remains open as a shelter for residents. Residents should bring any personal items and medicines to the shelter. Pets are not allowed in the shelter; however, animal wardens will assist in transporting pets to the St. Marys County Fairgrounds for care.

As the storm develops, please stay tuned to your local radio, television stations, and the county website http://www.co.saint-marys.md.us for further updates and warnings from the National Weather Service and St Marys County Government. For further information, please call the Emergency Information Hotline at301 475 4911.
