Bryan's Road Man with Suspended License Tries to Elude Police


LA PLATA, Md. - According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Department, on Dec. 30 at 3:03 a.m., Officer J. Gibson attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the 9500 block of Mitchell Road in La Plata. The driver did not stop and turned onto Washington Avenue, then fled north on Crain Highway.

Officers deployed stop sticks at Smallwood Drive, causing three of the vehicle’s tires to deflate. The driver stopped in a parking lot in the 3300 block of Crain Highway and taken into custody without incident.

The officer's investigation revealed the driver was driving on a suspended license and the vehicle was unregistered. The driver was identified as Anthony George Orris, 54, of Bryans Road. Orris. Orris was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, operating an unregistered vehicle and numerous other traffic violations.

Orris was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.

No one was injured during the incident.
