Mikulski Invites Queen of England to Visit St. Mary’s County

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – During a visit to St. Mary’s County today, Senator Barbara Mikulski divulged that she has sent an invitation to the Queen of England to visit St. Mary’s County. England's Queen Elizabeth II is currently scheduled to visit Jamestown, Virginia this May in honor of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city.

“If she’s coming to Jamestown, why not come to St. Mary’s?” said Mikulski. “She should certainly come to St. Mary’s with the Ark and the Dove. It’s all part of the founding. Why should Jamestown have all the fun?”

Mikulski also noted that she was not able to write the Queen directly. The British Royalty considers such contact to be “too aggressive.” Instead, Mikulski wrote to Her Majesty’s ambassador per protocol.

Mikulski said she is still waiting for a response.
