MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Friday, March 23, 2007 at 1:11 am, TFC Moore initiated a traffic stop on a blue Dodge Charger for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver, Jerome Anthony Hicks, 38, of Leonardtown. A check of MVA revealed his driving privileges are revoked in Maryland. Mr. Hicks was placed under arrest. Search incident to arrest revealed suspected cocaine and a CDS smoking device. Mr. Hicks was charged with possession of cocaine, CDS paraphernalia and traffic charges. Mr. Hicks was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:30 pm, TFC Moore responded to the 22000 block of Iverson Drive in Great Mills for a reported malicious destruction of property to a black Mercury Marauder. Contact was made with the 32 year male complainant, who advised unknown suspect(s) keyed his vehicle and slashed his tires. Investigation continues.

On Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 3:08 am, Tpr. Brill responded to the 45000 block of Halsey Court in California for a reported malicious destruction of property to a white Buick Lesabre. Contact was made with the 18 year old male complainant. He advised someone threw a rock through the rear window of the vehicle. Investigation continues.

On Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 5:55 pm, TFC Koch responded to a traffic complaint involving an ATV 4 wheeler on the soccer field at Spring Ridge Elementary School. Upon arrival TFC Koch observed the ATV driving on the soccer field fleeing towards the woods. After a short pursuit, TFC Koch made contact with James Joseph Owens, 18, of Lexington Park at a residence on Tippett Road in Lexington Park. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. Mr. Owens was arrested for DUI, malicious destruction of property and fleeing and eluding. Investigation continues as charges are pending on a 17 year old juvenile male.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 12:24 pm, TFC Fleetwood responded to a reported Burglary in the 41000 block of Queens Landing Road in Mechanicsville. Unknown suspect(s) made entry through the garage causing damage to the garage door and the door leading into the living area of the house. Items stolen from the residence include magazines, videos, rolled coins, flashlights and a Bushnell Laser Rangefinder. Case is still being investigated.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 8:40 pm, TFC Koch responded to a reported disturbance in the 30000 block of Point Lookout Road in Mechanicsville. Contact was made with the 44 year old female complainant. She advised she and her 17 year old son were in a verbal argument when he damaged the bedroom door and left the residence. The complainant recovered some CDS and CDS paraphernalia the juvenile's bedroom. The juvenile was later apprehended in the wooded area of his residence. He was arrested and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for possession of CDS. The juvenile was processed and transported to Cheltenham Youth Facility pending a hearing with Juvenile Service.
