MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Oct. 11, 2007) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: On Oct. 1, TPR Roy responded to Central Air, Inc., Keith Ln., Owings, for a stolen motor vehicle complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had stolen a 2000 Dodge Dakota during the weekend. Later that day, Anne Arundel Co. PD recovered the unoccupied vehicle at a golf course.

THEFT: On Oct. 1, between 4:35 PM and 5:00 PM, an unknown culprit entered a vehicle at Cove Point Park, Lusby, and removed a purse containing various personal items. TFC Bowling is handling the investigation.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Oct. 5, 12:09 PM, TPR Chirichella responded to the District Court Building, Duke St., Prince Frederick, for a CDS complaint. Investigation revealed that Bailiff Layman recovered a baggie of suspected marijuana after the suspect emptied his pockets to enter the metal detector. Arrested for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia was James Lee Vandevanter, 49, of Prince Frederick. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Oct. 7, 1:24 AM, Rt. 2/4, St. Leonard, TFC Murphy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The operator, Christopher Brian Newman, 25, of Bel Air, was subsequently arrested for DUI. During a search of his person, a baggie of suspected marijuana was recovered. He was then charged with possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Oct. 11, 2:56 AM, Rt. 260, Owings, TPR Chirichella stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The operator, Sherlock W. Lee, 57, of Chesapeake Beach, was subsequently arrested for DUI. Incident to arrest, a suspected marijuana cigarette was located on his person. He was then charged with possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
