Water Conservation Efforts Make a Difference in Charles County

LA PLATA, Md. (Oct. 16, 2007)—The Charles County Commissioners and the Charles County Department of Utilities today announced that voluntary water conservation has been successful in sharply reducing water usage. At the beginning of October, water usage in Charles County was at about 82 percent capacity. But, as of October 13, usage has dropped to 73 percent.

While other jurisdictions have deemed it necessary to place mandatory restrictions on water usage, Charles County residents have curbed their usage voluntarily.

Government official are asking citizens to continue to conserve water during this drought that has plagued the region.
