MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 20, 2007) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT ARREST, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Monday, December 17, 2007 at 5:18 am, TFC K. Shughart responded to the 22000 block of Glen Oak Court in Great Mills in an attempt to serve an outstanding Bench Warrant on Courtney Elizabeth Marshall, 19, of Great Mills. Once inside the residence, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. Ms. Marshall was located inside the residence and was arrested on the Bench Warrant (T3-12979). The original charge on the warrant was Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on August 8, 2007 for Driving While Suspended. Ms. Marshall was also charged with possession of Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond hearing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Monday, December 17, 2007 at 4:51 pm, Jeremy Michael Carr, 20, of Mechanicsville and Brian Charles Vance, 21, of Charlotte Hall were arrested by TFC J. Linger for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Carr was operating a black Ford Thunderbird on south bound Route 235 in the area of Morganza Turner Road in Mechanicsville when he was stopped for an equipment violation. When contact was made with the driver, Mr. Carr and the passenger Mr. Vance, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Vance was found to be in possession of a small baggie of marijuana and a CDS smoking device. Mr. Carr was found to be in possession of a CDS smoking device containing marijuana. Both subjects were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were held pending a bond review.

THEFT: On Monday December 17, 2007 at 7:12 pm, Tpr. B. McCartney responded to the 22000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for the reported theft from motor vehicle. Contact was made with the male complainant from Charlotte Hall. He advised unknown suspect(s) gained entry to his vehicle, a green Dodge Stratus and stole his wallet containing $150.00 and credit cards. The investigation is continuing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 10:30 pm, Jeffrey Paul Kirby, 44, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC K. Shughart for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Kirby was operating a red Ford Escort on Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Kirby was found to be in possession of a small baggie of Marijuana and a CDS smoking device. Mr. Kirby was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

DWI, DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 11:45 pm, Mark Andrew Thompson, 2nd, 23, of California was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of Marijuana and DUI. Mr. Thompson was operating a gray Ford F-150 was he was stopped on Route 235 north of Airport Road in Hollywood for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Thompson was arrested for DWI/DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Thompson was in possession of a CDS smoking device containing marijuana. Mr. Thompson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 3:04 am, Geoffrey Scott Welcome, 45, of Great Mills was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Welcome was operating a white Toyota Camry when he was stopped on Indian Bridge Road for failing to drive in a single lane. Mr. Welcome was arrested for DUI and a search incident to his arrest revealed he was in possession of CDS smoking device with Cocaine. Mr. Welcome was also charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held on local charges and extradition back to Florida on Grand Theft charges.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, December 17, 2007 at 6:15 am, Belinda Rae Barnes, 45, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC T. Quade on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-11612) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on August 2, 2005. The original charge was Driving Uninsured Vehicle. Ms. Barnes was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, December 17, 2007 at 6:25 am, John Elmer Chase, Jr., 47, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. Moore on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-12383) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on September 14, 2004. The original charge was Theft Under $500.00. Mr. Chase was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday December 17, 2007 at 10:45 am, Walter McWilliams Swales, 33, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13210) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on November 30, 2007. The original charge was Bad Check, Uttering and Theft under $500.00. Mr. Swales was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, December 17, 2007 at 2:18 pm, Gary Alphonso Fenwick, 38, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. B. McCartney on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13194) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on December 6, 2007. The original charge was Theft under $500.00. Mr. Fenwick was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
