MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 24, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 2:24 am, Michael Anthony Cooper, 37, of Waldorf was arrested by TFC T. Quade on an Arrest Warrant for Fugitive Other Area. Mr. Cooper was stopped on Route 235 in the area of Pegg Road in Lexington Park for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop a NCIC check was made and Mr. Cooper was found to be wanted by the Sheriff's Office in Arlington County, Virginia. Mr. Cooper was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending an extradition hearing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, January 18, 2008 at 5:47 am, Mark Eugene Smith, 41, of Waldorf was arrested by TFC R. Rezza for possession of Marijuana and possession of a CDS smoking device. Mr. Smith was operating a blue Chevrolet Silverado on northbound Route 5 in the area of Baptist Church Road in Mechanicsville when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, a routine check of MVA revealed the tags on the vehicle were suspended for emissions in addition to his driving privileges being suspended. Mr. Smith was arrested for driving while suspended. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Smith was in possession of a white metallic CDS smoking device containing burnt marijuana. Mr. Smith was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

THEFT/PROPERTY DAMAGE: On Friday, January 18, 2008 at 1:20 pm, Tpr. D. Brill responded to Two Guy Collision in the 22000 block of Mercedes Drive in California for Malicious Destruction of Property and Theft Over $500 to two vehicles. Unknown suspect(s) threw a rock through the passenger window of a red 2004 Ford Mustang. Three Mach 460 speakers valued at $400.00 were removed from the Ford Mustang. A Pioneer CD Player valued at $130.00 was removed for a red 1994 Ford Ranger. Total loss of property and damaged to both vehicles is $2,130.00. Investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS/OUTSTANDING WARRANT: On Friday, January 18, 2008 at 3:20 pm, a 17 year old juvenile male was arrested by TFC M. Laney for possession of Marijuana with the intent to Distribute. The juvenile was a passenger in a blue Mercury Grand Marquis on Flat Iron Road in Great Mills when they were stopped for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop contact was made with both juvenile occupants and the odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A routine check of MVA revealed the driver did not have a driver's license and he was arrested. A search of the vehicle incident to the arrest revealed a metal grinder containing Marijuana in the vehicle and the juvenile passenger was arrested for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The driver was released at the scene. The passenger was transported to the Leonardtown Barracks where he was processed and later released to the Charles County Sheriff's Office where he was being held on five outstanding Bench Warrants. Further action is pending by Juveniles Services on both individuals.

THEFT: On Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 10:31 am, TFC E. Evans responded to the 21000 block of Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown for the reported Theft Over $500. Contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) stole his Ameristep Hunting Blind valued at $240.00 and 37 Canadian Geese decoys valued at $550. Total loss of property was $790.00 and the investigation is continuing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, January 20, 2008 at 12:08 pm, Robert John Martin, 20, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC E. Evans for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Martin was operating a maroon Pontiac Bonneville on northbound Route 235 south of Route 246 in Lexington Park when he was stopped for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Mr. Martin and an odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Martin was found to be in possession of a bag of Marijuana and a multi-colored glass CDS smoking device containing burnt Marijuana. Mr. Martin was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, January 20, 2008 at 10:59 pm, Jeffrey Paul Kirby, 44, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Kirby was operating a red Ford Escort on Route 245 in Hollywood when he was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Mr. Kirby and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Kirby was found to be in possession of a small wooden box of Marijuana and a metal CDS smoking device. Mr. Kirby was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained for a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS/DRIVING w/o LICENSE: On Monday, January 21, 2008 at 7:44 pm, Lewis Frank Bryan, 24, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. C. Evans for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Bryan was operating a blue Buick Regal on Flat Iron Road in Great Mills when he was stopped for failing to drive right of the center line. During the course of the traffic stop, a routine MVA check revealed Mr. Bryan was not licensed to drive and was subsequently arrested for driving without a license. Mr. Bryan was found to be in possession of a bag of marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS/OUTSTANDING WARRANT: On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 1:23 am, TFC T. Quade and Tpr. N. Gresko responded to the 46000 block of Valley Court in Lexington Park for a reported disturbance. As contact was being made with the complainant in the residence and a strong odor of burning marijuana was detected. Contact was made with Ms. Nichelle Charonda Blake, 28, of Lexington Park and Ms. Parker in the living room. Both individuals appeared to be under the influence of CDS. A routine NCIC check on Ms. Blake revealed she had an outstanding Bench Warrant through the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Ms. Blake was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was served the Bench Warrant. The original charge was for driving uninsured vehicle. Ms. Parker was taken into custody for the possession of Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 5:45 pm, Chris Ricardo Colbert, Jr., 22, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams on an outstanding Arrest Warrant (T3-13225) for Violation of an Ex-Parte / Protective Order. Mr. Colbert was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 12:45 am, Tayvonna M. Yates, 19, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13197) for failing to appear in District Court in Leonardtown on December 6, 2007. The original charge was possession of CDS not Marijuana. Ms. Yates was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 2:26 am, Jimmy Clyde Brown, Jr., 27, of Norfolk, Virginia was arrested by TFC R. Rezza on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T313248) for failing to appear in District Court in Easton on March 27, 2007. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Brown was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, January 18, 2008 at 9:45 am, Alvin Bredford, 29, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC E. Evans on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13236) for failing to appearing District Court in Calvert County on December 26, 2007. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Bredford was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 9:05 am, Joshua David-Safrit Lopez, 20, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC E. Evans on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13251) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Calvert County on January 17, 2008. The original charge was Possession of Marijuana. Mr. Lopez was taken into custody and transported to Calvert County where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 9:25 am, John Edward Burch, 43, of Welcome was arrested by Tpr. D. Brill on an outstanding Circuit Court True Bill Indictments (T3-13066) issued on September 27, 2007. The original charge was Possession of Marijuana. (T3-13202) and (T3-13203) were both issued on December 13, 2007. The original charges were CDS Manufacture/Distribute respectively. Mr. Burch was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 4:30 pm, William Theadore Kasper, 41, of Hughesville was arrested by TFC Y. Stockton on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13221) for Failing to Appear in District Court on December 28, 2007. The original charges were DUI, Driving on Suspended and Revoked license. Mr. Kasper was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review.
