LA PLATA, Md. (Feb. 11, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: On Feb. 10 at 7:52 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the parking lot of the St. Charles Towne Center located at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Charvonne Michelle Stephens, 18, of Waldorf, an employee of Cinnabun in the mall, initially reported she was robbed of the store’s deposit. Sgt. D. Kelly arrived on the scene and determined shortly thereafter that Stephens had taken the money from the store and had given it to her friend, Erica Danielle Baker, 21, of Waldorf, as part of their conspiracy to steal the deposit. Baker returned to the mall and the money was recovered. Stephens and Baker were arrested and charged with theft valued at more than $500 and conspiracy to commit theft valued at more than $500. Stephens was also charged with giving a false statement. Officer S. Weedon investigated.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Feb. 9 at 2:10 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers were patrolling the parking lot of Thai Seafood located at 2732 Crain Highway in Waldorf when Officer S. Bryant saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view in a Honda Civic. The occupants of the vehicle, James Elwood Gilbert, III, 18, of Laurel, Travis Hezron Stevens, 19, of Hyattsville and a 17-year-old Capitol Heights boy were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The 17-year-old was charged as a juvenile and released to a parent. Gilbert and Stevens were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
