MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (Feb. 20, 2008) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

STOLEN VEHICLE PLATES: On February 15, at approximately 1730 hours, Trooper A. Ford was on routine patrol at the intersection of St. Patrick’s Drive and Western Parkway when he observed the driver of a Chevrolet Caprice not wearing a seat belt. Trooper Ford conducted a routine traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Anthony N. White, 18, of La Plata. While conversing with the operator he failed to display the vehicle registration and his driver’s license. Trooper Ford ran the vehicle registration, which disclosed that the registration plates were stolen. A search incident to arrest revealed a blank Maryland registration card with the same sticker number as the rear registration plate. White and a juvenile passenger were placed under arrest and transported to the Maryland State Police Barrack for initial processing. White was then transported to the Charles County Detention Center for further processing. White was charged with did steal two Maryland Registration plates, property of the State of Maryland, having a value of less than $100.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 15, at approximately 0221 hours, Trooper W. Posey was on routine patrol on eastbound Acton Lane, west of Route 301 when he observed a driver of a gold Saturn not wearing a seat belt. Trooper Posey conducted a routine traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, Trooper Posey immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the driver’s breath, Megan L. Beasley, 19 , of Waldorf. Trooper Posey conducted field sobriety test and Beasley was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. A search of the vehicle incident to Beasley’s arrest yielded several bottles of alcoholic beverages, and two baggies of marijuana, smoking device and a marijuana brownie. Beasley was taken to the Maryland State Police Barrack for initial processing then to the Charles County Detention Center for further processing. Beasley was charged with possess a controlled dangerous substance, possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and several other traffic citations.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 17, at approximately 0126 hours, Trooper W. Posey was on routine patrol traveling southbound U.S. #01, north of Acton Lane when he observed a silver Mercedes swerving our of lane three into lane two and the right turn lane. Trooper Posey conducted a routine traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, Linda Allen, 51, of Ft. Washington, Posey detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Field sobriety test was conducted and Allen was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. A search incident to Allen’s arrest revealed a clear plastic baggie containing partially smoked hand rolled cigarettes contain marijuana, rolling papers and raw marijuana. Allen was taken to the Maryland State Police Barrack for initial processing then to the Charles County Detention Center for further processing. Allen was charged with possess a controlled dangerous substance, possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and several other traffic citations.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 18, at approximately 2051 hours, Trooper R. Wilt was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Willets Crossing Road at U.S. Route 301. Upon Trooper Wilt’s arrival, he made contact with the driver, Walter J. Reed, 51, of Chaptico. During Trooper Wilts conversation with Reed, Wilts detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Reed's breath. A field sobriety test was conducted and Reed was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. A search incident to arrest revealed a device used to smoke crack cocaine, and a plastic box containing a white powder residue. Reed was taken to the Maryland State Police Barrack for initial processing then transported to the Charles County Detention Center for further processing. Reed was charged with possess a controlled dangerous substance, possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and several other traffic citations.
