79-Year-Old Woman Pins Man to ATM With Her SUV

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (March 5, 2008) - A man using a bank teller machine in Solomons was pinned between a SUV and the machine when the driver of the vehicle lost control last Saturday. The man received non-life threatening injuries.

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office reports that at 2:41 p.m. a 2001 GMC Yukon being driven by Mary N. Kuehnle, 79, of Solomons, failed to stop when Kuehnle mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake while pulling up to the automated teller machine located in the shopping center near Holiday Drive in Solomons. A pedestrian, later identified as Timothy W. Tipton, 50, of Ft. Washington, was using the teller machine and was subsequently pinned between the Yukon and the ATM.

Tipton was transported to P.G. Hospital Center in stable condition.

Police say Charges are pending.

Cpl. Gary Shrawder of the Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
