MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 17, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ATV STOLEN: On Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:37 am, TFC L. Nims responded to the 23000 block of Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown for the reported theft of an ATV 4 wheeler. Contact was made with the male complainant who advised the 4 wheeler was a 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 cc ATV and was red in color. The ATV was stolen between 2:00 am and 10:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2008. The investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Monday, March 3, 2008 at 6:44 pm, James Virgil Carter, 46, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Carter was driving a Red Nissan truck when he was stopped for speeding on westbound Route 247 in Mechanicsville. A routine check through MVA revealed Mr. Carter's driving privileges were suspended. Mr. Carter was arrested for driving while suspended and a search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Carter was in possession of a zip lock baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Carter was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 5:49 pm, Seth Ignatius Lengel, 21, of Ridge was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Lengel was driving a white Chevrolet Caprice northbound Route 5 in Park Hall when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Seth Ignatius Lengel and a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from his person and the vehicle. Mr. Lengel was found to be in possession of a plastic bag of Marijuana and he was taken into custody and charged with possession of Marijuana. Mr. Lengel was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 5:50 pm, Chester Elwood McMahan, 4th, 27, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko for possession of prescription medication not prescribed to him. Mr. McMahan was operating a blue Honda Accord on Route 246 and Route 237 when he was stopped for an equipment violation. A routine check through MVA revealed Mr. McMahan's driving privileges are suspended. Mr. McMahan was arrested for driving on a suspended license. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. McMahan was in possession of 10 Oxycodone pills not prescribed to him. Mr. Lengel was charged accordingly and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 2:40 pm, Adrian Cordrell Gray, 18, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. E. Page for possession of Marijuana, fleeing and eluding and failing to remain at the scene of a motor vheicle accident. Tpr. Page observed Mr. Gray operating a white Toyota Tacoma on Route 235 in the area of the Wildewood Shopping Center when he attempted to stop the vehicle for an equipment violation. Mr. Gray attempted to elude Tpr. Page by turning into the Wildewood Shopping Center. After a brief pursuit by Tpr. Page, Mr. Gray exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot when he was caught in the area of the Outback Steak House. He was arrested for fleeing and eluding and leaving the scene of an accident after the vehicle he was driving struck a parked car after he fled on foot. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Gray was in possession of a small plastic bag of Marijuana and he was charged accordingly and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 3:55 pm, David Edward Dziergowski, 45, of Callaway was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Dziergowski was operating a red Toyota Camry. A routine MVA check revealed the registration plates on the Toyota were suspended and a traffic stop was initiated on Pegg Road at Ronald Drive in Lexington Park. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Dziergowski was found to be in possession of a plastic baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Dziergowski was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 5:58 pm, Christopher Wayne Lindberg, Sr., 29 of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. Fleetwood for Domestic Assault 2nd Degree. TFC Fleetwood responded to the 26000 block of Valley Drive in Mechanicsville for the reported disturbance. Upon arrival contact was made with the female complainant who advised she had been assaulted by Mr. Lindberg who had left the residence. Mr. Lindberg later returned to the residence at 9:00 pm and TFC Fleetwood responded back to the residence and took Mr. Lindberg into custody and transported him to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

PEDESTRIANS STRUCK WITH VEHICLE, DUI: On Friday, March 7, 2008 at 1:00 am, TFC M. Moore responded to Big Dogs Paradise in the 28000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised he and three other people were assaulted by Jerry Wayne McGinnis, 24, of Mechanicsville. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Mr. McGinnis struck several pedestrians with his white Ford Ranger in the parking lot. Mr. McGinnis also struck two vehicles in the parking lot. Mr. McGinnis was later located in the area of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge and had been operating the white Ford Ranger. Mr. McGinnis was subsequently arrested for DWI/DUI. He was also charged with 3 counts of 1st Degree Assault and 3 counts of 2nd Assault and 2 counts of MDOP over $500.00 and Disorderly Public Intoxication. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

SCHOOL BUS ASSAULT: On Friday, March 7, 2008 at 4:00 pm, Tpr. G. Thompson responded to the 21000 block of Bristol Avenue in Lexington Park for the reported Juvenile Assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the 11-year-old female victim who advised the suspect, a 12-year-old female was exiting the school bus and assaulted the victim. Contact was made with the suspect and she was charged with 2nd Degree Assault and released to her mother pending further action by Juvenile Services.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, March 7, 2008 at 9:34 pm, Andrew Norman Brewer, 47, of Charlotte Hall was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for possession of Cocaine. Tpr. Pilkerton responded to Mr. Brewer's residence in Charlotte Hall in an attempt to serve a Bench Warrant (T3-13278) for Failing to Appear in District Court on February 7, 2008. The original charge was Possession of CDS not Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Brewer was taken into custody for the warrant service and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Brewer was in possession of a small plastic baggie of Cocaine. Mr. Brewer was later taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served the warrant and charged with possession of Cocaine. He was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:55 am, Rick Lee Hawkins, 43, of Hollywood was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13280) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on February 8, 2008. The original charge on the warrant is driving on a revoked license. Tpr. Adams responded to the 44000 block of Three Coves Road in Hollywood in attempt to locate Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was home and attempted to deceive Tpr. Adams by providing a false name. Mr. Hawkins was taken into custody, charged accordingly and detained pending a bond review with the commissioner.

ARSON THREAT: On Sunday, March 9, 2008 at 4:50 pm, Tpr. C. Evans responded to the 22000 block of Chancellors Run Road in California for a reported Threats of Arson. Contact was made with the female complainant who advised her 16-year-old son had made several threats to other members of the family of burning down the house. The juvenile was interviewed and later charged with threats of arson and released to his father pending further action by Juvenile Services.
