St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 22, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT SECOND DEGREE: On March 20 Deputy N. Chimko-Fahey responded to a residence in Lexington Park for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation. The altercation escalated at which time the suspect, Jay V. Williams, 29, of Lexington Park, grabbed the victim by the hair, choked her then threw her to the ground. Williams was arrested, charged with assault second degree and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, STALKING: On March 19 Cpl. C. Grumbles responded to a residence in Lexington Park for a report of a violation of a protective order issued by the Circuit Court. Investigation revealed the suspect, John Allen Combs, Sr., 35, of Lexington Park entered upon the property of the victim after being served a protective order directing him to remain away from the property. Upon arrival of Cpl. Grumbles, Combs fled the property and was apprehended in the woods to the rear of the victim's residence. Combs was also served with an open warrant charging Combs with stalking the victim. Combs was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT SCHEME, FRAUD: On March 20 Sdfc. S. Presson responded to the PNC Bank in Lexington Park for a report of a theft scheme and fraud. Investigation revealed the suspect Maricris A. Shaw, 33, of Lexington Park, opened an account at the PNC Bank. Shaw then began writing checks to herself knowing there were insufficient funds to cover the checks. Shaw was located at the bank attempting to obtain additional funds when Sdfc. Presson arrived. Shaw was arrested, charged with 5 counts of uttering a bad check over $500, uttering a bad check under $500, theft under $500 and theft scheme over $500 and transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 20 Sdfc. D. Corcoran observed a suspicious person in the area of the A&E Motel. Following a consent search of the suspect, Orlando W. Demby, 20, of Lexington Park, a glass smoking device containing suspected cocaine and a knife containing suspected cocaine was located on Mr. Demby's person. Demby was placed under arrest and transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
