St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 22, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: On April 22 at 3:15 p.m., Deputy J. Reithmeyer responded to the Family Dollar in Leonardtown for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed Angela L. Newton, age 18, of Hollywood entered the business, removed items from the display and placed them in her purse. Newton then exited the business without rendering payment for the items. Newton was issued a criminal citation for theft under $100.00 and released pending an appearance in District Court.

ASSAULT SECOND DEGREE, RESISTING ARREST, DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On April 22 at 8:22 p.m., DFC. W. Rishel responded to the report of a disturbance on Pegg Lane in Lexington Park. Investigation revealed David L. Garrison, age 48, of Lexington Park was causing a disturbance in front of his residence on Pegg Lane. As Dfc. Rishel approached Garrison, he fled on foot to the rear of the residence. As Garrison reached the wood line he suddenly stopped and turned towards the deputy. He was given several verbal commands to drop the items in his hands and provide identification. Garrison refused and lunged at the deputy. Garrison was subsequently subdued after struggling with the officer and then began spitting at Dfc. Rishell. Garrison was transported to the Detention Center where he was incarcerated pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
