St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 2, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On May 31, Dfc. Michael Meyer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation (headlight not functioning). The passenger in the vehicle, Antonio Jamear Warrick, age 18, of no fixed address, had two open arrest warrants (second degree assault and destruction of property). Mr. Warrick was arrested on the open warrants. Search incident to the arrest revealed Warrick to be in possession of controlled dangerous substances (marijuana and hydrocodone.) Warrick was served with the two open warrants and was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and possession of hydrocodone.

COPS IN SHOPS: On May 23 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, Senior Deputy First Class Emory Johnson and Corporal Christopher Morley conducted an undercover "Cops in Shops" operation at Hal's Deli in Lexington Park.

Five persons were approached and asked to present identification. All five subjects were of age to purchase alcoholic beverages and possessed valid identification.

Two adult males, both from Lusby, were observed walking up to the establishment and consuming alcoholic beverages from open containers. Both subjects were issued citations for consuming an alcoholic beverage in an outside open area.

"Cops in Shops" is an undercover operation where Police Officers in plain clothes enter and pose as store employees or patrons and observe for underage individuals attempting to purchase alcoholic beverages. "Cops in Shops" is funded in part by the Century Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
