MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (June 26, 2008) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, HANDGUN: On June 21, 2008, TFC J. Edelen and TFC R. Hill were patrolling the rear parking lot of the Thunberbird Motel in Newburg when they observed an occupied Ford with no registration plates. A suspicious vehicle stop was initiated. Contact was made with the Erick N. Wilson, age 18 of Lusby, when Trooper Hill detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search revealed an unloaded RG14 22 Caliber handgun. A search of Wilson revealed a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. Wilson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and handgun on person.

THEFT: On June 23, 2008, Trooper W. Scarlett responded to Best Buy in Waldorf for a reported theft. Contact was made with the store’s loss prevention staff. William A. Krell, age 23 of Charlotte Hall, was arrested for removing a cell phone accessory from the display rack and cut the anti-theft device with a pair of wire cutters.
