MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Aug. 28, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 12:28 am, Claire Susan Andrews, 37, of Great Mills was arrested by TFC E. Evans for possession of Marijuana and Hydrocodone. Ms. Andrews was operating blue Ford Escape northbound on Route 235 at Shady Mile Drive in California when she was stopped for an equipment violation. Contact was made with Ms. Andrews and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from her breath. She was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to the arrest revealed Ms. Andrews was in possession of a clear baggie of Marijuana and one Hydrocodone pill not prescribed to her. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 9:29 am, Tpr. M. Adams responded to the 40000 block of Golden Beach Road in Mechanicsville for the reported Malicious Destruction of Property to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female victim, 19, of Hughesville. She advised unknown suspect(s) keyed her white Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle was damaged on the passenger side in addition to having both passenger side tires slashed. The approximate damage is $500.00. The investigation continues.

BICYCLE THEFT: On Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 4:07 pm, Tpr G. Thompson responded to the 46000 block of Nicholas Court in Great Mills for the reported Theft of Bicycle. Contact was made with the male complainant, 43, of Great Mills who advised unknown suspect(s) removed a bicycle from the rear of the residence. Neighborhood checks were made with negative results. The investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, August 22, 2007 at 12:07 am, Tyrone Daniel Baker, 19 of Mechanicsville and Joseph Leon Brown, 18, of Lexington Park were arrested for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Baker was operating a silver Chrysler LHS on northbound Route 235 at Route 4 in California when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with Mr. Baker, the driver, and Mr. Brown the right passenger. Mr. Baker and Mr. Brown were found to be in possession of a plastic bag of Marijuana. They were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner and charged accordingly.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Friday, August 22, 2008 at 3:49 pm, Joseph Jeremiah Reed, 27, of Waldorf was arrested by Tpr. G. Thompson for possession of Marijuana and Driving on Suspended License. Mr. Reed was operating a red Ford Crown Victoria on Route 247 at Route 237 in Lexington Park when he was stopped for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Mr. Reed and a routine MVA check revealed Mr. Reed's driving privileges are suspended. Mr. Reed was taken into custody and an odor of Marijuana was detected on his person. Mr. Reed was found to be in possession of a small plastic bag of Marijuana and a hand rolled blunt. Mr. Reed was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

BURGLARY: On Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 7:45 am, TFC M. Moore responded to the 47000 block of Greenleaf Road in Lexington Park for the reported burglary. Contact was made with the female complainant, 29, of Lexington Park who advised unknown suspect(s) broke into her residence and went to the basement, going through many personal belongings. The suspect(s) stole a black fitted New York Yankees ball cap and 23 Play Station games totaling $245.00. During the course of the investigation, information led to a neighbor's child who visits the residence. An interview with the male suspect, 13, of Lexington Park and his younger brother revealed the suspect had stolen the ball cap and the Play Station games. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed and later released to his parents pending further action by Juveniles Services.

BURGLARY, THEFT: On Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:37 am, TFC R. Rezza responded to the 27000 block of Cat Creek Road in Mechanicsville for the reported Burglary and Theft over $500. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 63, of Mechanicsville who advised unknown suspect(s) broke into her residence and stole $850.00 in coins and several pieces of jewelry valued at $3,050.00. One ring set, white gold with a small diamond and a white gold wedding band valued at $1,500.00. A white gold necklace with an "L" pendant and diamond chips, valued at $200.00. A gold necklace with Egyptian letter "CARTOUCHE", valued at $400.00. Fossil brand watch with Faux diamonds and is stainless steel, valued at $100.00. Neighborhood checks were conducted revealing negative results. The investigation continues.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 8:01 pm, Gerald Dance, 73, of Great Mills was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko for 2nd Degree Domestic Assault. Tpr. Gresko responded to the reported Disturbance in the 45000 block of Foxchase Drive in Great Mills. Contact was made with the female victim, 41, of Great Mills, who had a small abrasion on the left side of her face and advised she had been assaulted by Gerald Dance. Mr. Dance was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

OPEN WARRANT, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 1:31 pm, Tpr. M. Pitcher responded to the WAWA on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for the reported Disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with Ryan Michael Page, 23, of Leonardtown who was involved in a verbal dispute with Kathy Lea Reed, 19, of Mechanicsville. A NCIC Wanted Check was made on both Mr. Page and Ms. Reed which revealed they both had outstanding Grand Jury Indictment warrants for Theft over $500. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Upon arrival at the detention center, a secondary search was conducted on Mr. Page which revealed he was attempting to conceal one hypodermic needle and a metal spoon in his shoe. Both the needle and spoon contained oxycodone. Officers on the scene of the verbal dispute also found one hyperdermic needle and a metal spoon also containing oxycodone under the vehicle where Mr. Page was standing when he was taken into custody. In addition to the warrant service charges, Mr. Page was also charged with possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance/Oxycodone and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Page and Ms. Reed were detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 1:19 am, Aaron Richard Shumaker, 19, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC R. Rezza for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Shumaker was operating a white Ford Ranger northbound Route 5, in the area of Persimmon Creek Road in Mechanicsville when he was stopped for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Mr. Shumaker and a distinct odor of Marijuana was emanating from within the occupied cab of the vehicle. Mr. Shumaker was found to be in possession of a clear plastic ziplock baggie full of Marijuana which was found on his person. Mr. Shumaker was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 8:50 am, Mark Joseph Weiler, 50, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. C. Evans on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13575) for Violation of Probation for failing to abstain from alcohol and drugs. Mr. Weiler was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
