MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 19, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 8:23 pm, Tpr. J. Gibson responded to the 37000 block of East Lakeland Drive in Mechanicsville for the reported check welfare on a 911 hang-up. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 57, of Mechanicsville, who advised Glenn Rodney Battle, 22, of Mechanicsville was intoxicated and took the key to his pickup truck. Contact was made with Mr. Battle, who was extremely loud and disorderly. Once the key to the truck was returned to the complainant, Mr. Battle began yelling profanities at the complainant. Mr. Battle was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and hindering. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

THEFT: On Monday, September 15, 2008 at 8:55 am, Tpr. M. Koock responded to the area of Wildewood Parkway and Wildewood Drive in California for a reported theft under $500. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male construction manager for Lincoln Property Company, who advised unknown suspect(s) stole four fiberglass composite lamp posts from the construction site. The lamp posts are valued at $75.00 each totaling $300.00. The investigation is ongoing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 1:29 pm, Richard Alan Stone, 18, of Callaway, was arrested by TFC K. Lashley for possession of marijuana. Mr. Stone was a passenger in a red Ford Expedition when it was stopped on Route 245, in the area of Tin Top Lane in Hollywood for exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine MVA check revealed the driver's license was suspended. The passenger, Richard Alan Stone, 18, of Callaway was found to be in possession of a clear baggie of marijuana. Mr. Stone was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 12:35 am, Kevin Alonzo Baskin, 21, of Great Mills, was arrested by Tpr. C. Evans for possession of marijuana. Mr. Baskin was operating a red Dodge Intrepid when he was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane. Contact was made with the driver, Mr. Baskin and a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Baskin was found to be in possession of a small baggie of marijuana. Mr. Baskin was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 7:09 am, James Henry Elam 3rd, 26, of Lexington Park was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for possession of Percocet, a prescription medication not prescribed to him, driving on a suspended license and possession of a deadly weapon. Mr. Elam was operating a silver Dodge on north bound Route 235 in California when he failed to stop for a red traffic light at Route 235 and Mervell Dean Road. Cpl. Linger initiated a traffic stop at Route 235 and Airport View Drive in Hollywood and contact was made with Mr. Elam. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Elam's driving privileges are suspended and Mr. Elam was taken into custody and arrested for driving on a suspended license. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Elam was in possession of Percocet pills not prescribed to him and brass knuckles. Mr. Elam was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 9:26 pm, Javon Jason Keys, 22, of Marbury was arrested by Tpr. E. Page for possession of Marijuana. Cpl. J. Linger was working off duty at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek performing patrol checks of the parking lots when he detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from Mr. Keys. Mr. Keys was found to be in possession of a folded napkin containing marijuana and a partially burnt hand rolled cigar with marijuana. Mr. Keys was taken into custody by Tpr. Page and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained and charged accordingly.

ASSAULT: On Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 11:28 pm, the female complainant, 38, of Piney Point responded to the Leonardtown Barrack to report she was assaulted by Dale Lee Lokey, Sr., 40, of Piney Point. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Mr. Lokey attempted to choke the complainant at a residence in Piney Point. Mr. Lokey was subsequently arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for 2nd Degree Assault and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

UNRULY TEEN ON SCHOOL BUS: On Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 7:12 am, TFC K. Lashley responded to the reported juvenile assault at the Spring Ridge Middle School in Lexington Park. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, who advised a 13 year-old male juvenile, of Lexington Park was using profanities on the school bus and was told to exit the bus. As the juvenile exited the bus, he hit the driver. Once off the bus, the juvenile kicked the door on the school bus and turned and spit in the bus driver's face. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing where he was later released to his mother pending further action by Juvenile Services.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, September 15, 2008 at 11:35 am, Stanley Bernard Jiles, 23, of Fort Washington was arrested by Tpr. M. Koock on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13591) for failing to appear in District Court in Leonardtown on August 26, 2008. The original charge was driving on a suspended license. Mr. Jiles was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 7:40 pm, Patrick Shawn Dowell, 19, of St. Inigoes was arrested by Tpr. J. Hardesty on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13595) for failing to appear in District Court in Leonardtown on August 28, 2008. The original charge was assault 2nd degree. Mr. Dowell was taken into custody at his residence and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held on no bond.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 5:51 pm, William T. Campbell, 32, of Park Hall was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13565) for failing to appear in District Court in Leonardtown on August 13, 2008. The original charge was possession of CDS-not marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Campbell was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.
