St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 27, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

TRESPASSING, FAILURE TO OBEY POLICE: On 10/24/08 at approximately 7:30 pm Deputy First Class J. Maletto responded to Papa John's Pizza on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, Maryland for a report of an intoxicated subject. Upon arrival Dfc. Maletto found William Orlando Demby, Jr. 20 of Lexington Park, Maryland sleeping on a bench in the waiting area of the establishment. According to the employees, Mr. Demby entered the establishment, did not order anything, laid down on the bench and fell asleep. Dfc. Maletto woke Mr. Demby and advised him he could not sleep in the establishment and had to leave. Dfc. Maletto told Mr. Demby he was not to return to the business. Mr. Demby's speech was slurred, incoherent and refused to listen to Dfc. Maletto. Mr. Demby walked onto the side walk which was just off the business property. A short time later, Mr. Demby returned to the property and attempted to walk into the business. Mr. Demby was arrested and charged with trespassing and refusing to comply with a lawful order of a police officer.

TRESPASSING: On October 24, 2008 Deputy S. Ruest responded to Wal-Mart in California, Maryland for a trespasser. Investigation revealed Aaron James Southam, 20 Great Mills, Maryland was served with a no trespassing notice on June 21, 2008 by the loss prevention officer of Wal-mart. On October 24, 2008 Mr. Southam entered the Wal-mart. The loss prevention officer recognized Mr. Southam and reminded him he was not permitted on the property. The officer asked him to leave several times which Mr. Southam refused to do so. Deputy Ruest located Mr. Southam on the property. Mr. Southam was arrested and charged with trespassing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On October 25, 2008 Deputy M. Rodgers responded to Hill Top Court in Mechanicsville, Maryland for a report of a domestic assault. Investigation revealed Cheryl Jeanette Moore, 48 of Mechanicsville, Maryland was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical altercation where Mrs. Moore slapped and kicked the victim. The victim left the residence to deescalate the situation. Cheryl Moore got into her vehicle and began to follow the victim down Hill Top Court. Mrs. Moore demanded several time for the victim to get into the vehicle which he refused. Mrs. Moore then attempted to strike the victim with her vehicle. Deputy Rodgers contacted and arrested Mrs. Moore for first and second degree assault.
