Mechanicsville 7-11 Bandit Eludes Police


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 18, 2008)—A lone robber entered the 7-11 store in Mechanicsville Tuesday morning around 2:15 a.m. and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect managed to elude police, including K-9 units and officers searching from the MSP Trooper 2 helicopter.

Police say the man entered the store brandishing what appeared to be a "shotgun wrapped in cloth," and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied with the demand and the suspect fled on foot.

St. Mary's County Sheriff and Maryland State Police patrol officers were assisted by MSP helicopter Trooper 2 as well as Charles and Calvert County Sheriff's office K-9 Units in a search of the area. The suspect was not located.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 5'5" tall and 150 pounds.
