St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 10, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, PUBLIC INTOXICATION, RESISTING ARREST: On Dec. 9, Corp. Cara Grumbles was patrolling in the are of Great Mills Road and Point Lookout Road in Lexington Park when she heard a male, later identified as Eric Scott Johnson, 45, of Lexington Park, yelling and cursing in front of St. Mary's Wine and Spirits. Mr. Johnson was yelling and cursing at the owner of the business who was asking Mr. Johnson to leave. Cpl. Grumbles then saw Eric Johnson put his hands up in an offensive manner and lunge towards the owner. When Mr. Johnson saw Cpl. Grumbles approaching he began walking in the other direction. Cpl. Grumbles told Eric Johnson to stop which he initially refused but then complied. Cpl. Grumbles could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage upon his breath and person. Mr. Johnson continued to yell and curse. Cpl. Grumbles told Mr. Johnson he was under arrest. Cpl. Grumbles attempted to handcuff Mr. Johnson and a brief struggle ensued. Johnson was eventually handcuffed and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault and public intoxication.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 9 at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies responded to an early morning residential burglary on Barefoot Drive in California. During their investigation, descriptions of two suspicious males seen in the area earlier that morning were obtained. Deputies later located the suspects in the First Colony Shopping Center. BCI detectives were notified and assumed the investigation. A search warrant was conducted at a residence in California and the stolen property was recovered. Detectives charged Tony D. Wald, 21, and Christopher L. Watson, 19, both from California, Md., with first degree burglary and theft over $500. They were incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
