Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (July 28, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On July 28 at 6:48 a.m., officers responded to Westlake High School at 3300 Middletown Road in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed sometime between July 27 - July 28, unknown suspects broke into the concession stand and stole several cases of beverages and several boxes of candy. The interior of the concession stand was left in disarray. Officer P. Anderson is investigating.

WOMAN CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On July 28 at 1:35 a.m., officers responded to Memories Nightclub and Bar at 2360 Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a 33-year-old Waldorf man, unconscious inside the establishment. Investigation revealed the victim was arguing with the suspect's father when the suspect, Amanda Denise Greenwell, 24, of Lothian, struck the victim in the head with a glass causing a severe laceration. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was admitted with non life-threatening injuries. Greenwell was arrested on the scene and charged with first-degree assault. Officer R. Brooks made the arrest.

VANDALISM/ATTEMPT BURGLARY: On July 28 at 12:18 a.m., officers responded to Tompkins Cores at 26 Irongate Drive in Waldorf for the report of an intrusion alarm. Investigation revealed unknown suspects broke out the front window. A K-9 was deployed and the building was cleared. A company representative responded and advised nothing had been stolen.

SECOND-DEGREE BURGLARY: On July 26 at 9:45 a.m., officers responded to Sleepy's located at 3245 Plaza Drive in Waldorf for a reported burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspects smashed a window and stole two mattress sets. Officer J. Foster is investigating.

CARJACKING: On July 23 at 10:02 p.m., officers received a call for a carjacking that occurred on Middletown Road in Waldorf. The victim - a 33-year-old Waldorf man, reported he was driving south on Middletown Road when an unknown vehicle struck the rear of his car. The victim stopped and was accosted by a male with a handgun who demanded the victim get back into the vehicle. The victim refused and the suspect struck him. The suspect then got into the victim's vehicle - a Mazda minivan - and fled the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle also fled south on Middletown Road. The victim's vehicle was recovered the next day in Waldorf. Detective S. Fetterolf is investigating.
