Hoyer to Hold Town Hall via Telephone Monday Evening

WASHINGTON (Nov. 30) – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-5th) will hold a telephone town hall on Monday, November 30th, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., focusing on Congress’ efforts to build a lasting economic recovery that strengthens middle-class families, small businesses and our nation’s long-term fiscal future. Citizens living in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties and portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties) can participate by calling 877-269-7289 and using the pin number 12897.

“Even as the Recovery Act has helped end the economic downslide, and there are signs that the economy is starting to turn around, it is more important than ever to continue adding jobs and working to ensure a strong and solid economic recovery for all families,” stated Rep. Hoyer. “I hope that citizens will join me for this discussion about the steps Congress is taking to address our economic challenges and build a lasting recovery that puts our nation on sound fiscal footing for future generations.”

The telephone town hall operates much like a large-scale conference call between Rep. Hoyer and citizens living in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District. Before the town hall begins, thousands of households will receive a direct call from Rep. Hoyer inviting them to join him for the town hall. Call recipients have the option of staying on the line to hear opening remarks from Rep. Hoyer, followed by a question and answer session. Rep. Hoyer’s previous town hall meetings have drawn as many as 3,800 participants.
