Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 5, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

SHERIFF'S OFFICERS APPREHEND BURGLARY SUSPECTS: On January 3 at 12:09 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 11600 block of Henrietta Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary in progress. The complainant advised he observed three males enter a house under construction. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspects running from the house. Two suspects, a 16-year old male and a 15-year-old male, were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. The third suspect fled. Investigation revealed the suspects broke into the house to smoke marijuana. Both suspects were charged with burglary and possession of drugs. Officers E. Weaver and K. Gross made the arrests.

SHERIFF'S OFFICERS ARREST BURGLARY SUSPECT: On January 3 at 8:54 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 2300 block of Springdale Lane in Waldorf for the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who said he observed an unknown male wearing dark clothing enter the basement of his house and exit with an X-Box game system. The witness saw the suspect walk toward another house before losing sight of him. Officers canvassed the area and observed the suspect, Xavier Jamal Allen, 22, of Waldorf, standing nearby. The game system was recovered and Allen was arrested and charged with burglary. Officer R. Forbes made the arrest.

MAN CHARGED WITH RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On January 2 at 12 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 9200 block of Wills Road in Bel Alton for the report of an assault in progress. Investigation revealed the suspect, Jonathan Lee Reinhardt, 19, of White Plains, went to an acquaintance's house and knocked on the front door. When the victim answered, the suspect pushed him to the ground, entered the house, removed a computer and left, getting into a nearby car. As the suspect tried to leave, the victim - a 35-year-old man- opened the car door at which point the suspect accelerated, dragging the victim approximately 50 feet. The victim freed himself and the suspect fled. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries. Officers arrested the suspect at his residence and charged him with reckless endangerment. Officer C. Strafella is continuing the investigation.

ATTEMPT FIRST-DEGREE BURGLARY: On January 1 at 11 a.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Pinefield Road in Waldorf for the report of an attempted burglary. Investigation revealed the homeowner, who was inside her house, heard glass from a basement window break. As the homeowner investigated, she observed a male get in a beige colored sedan and flee. Although the window was broken, the suspect did not gain entry. Officer K. Gross is investigating.

SHERIFF'S OFFICERS RECOVER DRUGS AND GUN DURING CALL: On January 1 at 4:20 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the Super 8 Motel at 3550 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a fight in which a handgun was seen. Officers recovered the gun inside a room and found over 20 glassine baggies of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Aaron Deshawn Walcott, 19, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer R. Zink made the arrest.

SHERIFF'S OFFICERS ARREST THEFT SUSPECT: On December 31 at 3:18 p.m., officers responded to Safeway at 40 Shining Willow Way in La Plata for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed store employees approached the suspect, Andrew Harold Belton, 56, of Washington, D.C., after observing him load a grocery cart full of laundry detergent. Belton ran from the store, jumped into a car and struck an employee as he fled - the employee was not injured. Citizens called police, provided a description of the suspect and a lookout was broadcast. Shortly after, Charles County Sheriff's Officer D. Arends observed the suspect vehicle on Leonardtown Road and initiated a traffic stop. Stolen merchandise, which had been stolen prior to the assault, was recovered from inside the car and Belton was arrested and charged with theft and first-degree assault.

BURGLARY: On December 31, officers responded to the 15900 block of Rock Point Road in Newburg for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the house and stole a large screen television and wall mount. Officer R. Snyder is investigating.

BURGLARY: On December 29 at 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Milstead Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspects broke into a home and stole a game system. Officers canvassed the area and developed leads in the case. Officer C. Caldwell is continuing the investigation.
