Northern Senior Activity Center Closed Due to Gas Fumes

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 12, 2009)—The Northern Senior Activity Center in Charlotte Hall has been closed for employees and seniors until further notice due to detection of unexplained gas fumes. The building was opened in 2005 to provide congregate meals and activities for seniors in the northern part of St. Mary's County. The other two senior activity centers remain open and are prepared to accommodate additional clients.

The Garvey Senior Activity Center is located in the Governmental Center in Leonardtown at 41780 Baldridge Street, and the Loffler Senior Activity Center is located in the Chancellor's Run Regional Park (21905 Chancellors Run Rd).

Congregate lunches must be reserved 24 hours in advance by calling the center you will be attending: Garvey Senior Activity Center, 301-475-4200, ext. 1050; Loffler Senior Activity Center, 301-737-5670, x 1658.
