MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 12, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 8:40 am, Kevin Antionne Makle, 26, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. A. Moore on an Arrest Warrant (T314248) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on December 27, 2009. The original charges were Assault 2nd Degree and Unlawful taking of a Motor Vehicle. Mr. Makle was taken into custody at the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 6:44 pm, a male complainant, 25, of Charlotte Hall telephoned the Leonardtown Barracks and spoke with Cpl. D. B. Peck concerning the theft of the rear Maryland Registration plate (53V715) from his black Nissan truck. The vehicle was parked in the Food Lion parking lot on Mt. Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall on December 26, 2009 at 12:00 pm and when he returned on the following date he noticed the rear tag was missing. The tag has been entered into NCIC and the investigation continues.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 8:46 pm, Christopher Wayne Quade, 21, of Clements was arrested by TFC J. G. Fleetwood for Disorderly Conduct at St. Mary's Hospital. TFC Fleetwood responded to St. Mary's Hospital for a disorderly person at the hospital. Upon arrival, contact was made with Security Personnel who were outside the hospital with Mr. Quade. Mr. Quade was intoxicated and yelling obscenities while people were in the waiting room of the hospital. Mr. Quade was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 12:07 am, Erin Elizabeth Brewer, 21, of California was arrested by TFC D. S. Brill for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Ms. Brewer was operating a white Honda Civic on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville when she was stopped at Flora Corner Road for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with the driver, Ms. Brewer, a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Ms. Brewer was found to be in possession of Marijuana and two (2) silver metal grinders. She was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 12:55 pm, Lynn Ann Smith, 54, of Hollywood was arrested by Tpr. M. J. Pitcher on an Arrest Warrant (T3-14243) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on December 10, 2009. The original charges were Assault 2nd Degree and Possession of Marijuana. Ms. Smith turned herself in at the Leonardtown Barracks where she was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 12:56 pm, Marcus Demetrius Yates, 29, of La Plata was arrested by TFC J. A. Pilkerton for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. TFC Pilkerton was patrolling in the area of All Faith Church Road in Mechanicsville when he observed a white Ford truck exceeding the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated at All Faith Church Road and Wanda Lane for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with the operator, Mr. Yates, a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Yates was found to be in possession of a baggie of Marijuana and was taken into custody. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

POSSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT U. S. CURRENCY, DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 10:09 am, Milford Anthwan Brooks, 49, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. B. Adams for Possession of Counterfeit $20.00 bills, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Brooks pumped gasoline at the Lexington Park Exxon on Great Mills Road and attempted to pass four (4) counterfeit $20.00 bills to pay for the gasoline. After he was taken into custody he was found to be in possession of a baggie of Cocaine, a baggie of Marijuana and a plastic CDS smoking device. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT: On Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 12:47 pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann and several other Troopers from the Leonardtown Barracks responded to the 23000 block of McIntosh Road in Hollywood for the reported Disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male victim, 58, of Hollywood who was bleeding from the head. After interviewing the victim and witnesses, contact was made with the suspect, Marvin Eugene Briscoe, 27, of Hollywood who was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with both First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault. He was held at the Detention Center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

FUGITIVE OTHER AREA: On Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 3:13 pm, TFC C. M. Evans responded to the Leonardtown Barracks to assume custody of Shannon Marie Baker, 22, of Lexington Park who was wanted through Dallas County, Texas for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance. Ms. Baker was brought to the Leonardtown Barracks by a Bail Bondsman who stated she had an outstanding warrant in Texas. A NCIC request was made and confirmed that there was an outstanding warrant. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, January 1, 2010 at 3:00 am, Daren Lamont Curtis, 29, of Brooklyn, MD was arrested Tpr. M. J. Pitcher for Possession of Marijuana. Tpr. M. J. Pitcher was patrolling north bound Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown when he initiated a traffic stop on a silver Cadillac north of Budds Creek Road for an equipment violation. Upon contact with the driver, Aaron Dale Marlow, 28, of Mechanicsville, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. F/Sgt J. C. McCauley arrived on the scene to assist and observed the passenger, Mr. Curtis, place a plastic bag of Marijuana in the passenger side door pocket. At that point, Mr. Curtis was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. The driver, Mr. Marlow, was subsequently arrested for DWI/DUI and transported to the Leonardtown Barracks for processing.

BURGLARY 2ND DEGREE TO A COMMERCIAL BUILDING: On Friday, January 1, 2010 at 7:15 am, TFC M. B. Adams responded to the Wendy's Restaurant at 21589 Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for Check Welfare 911 hang up. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female employee who advised no one dialed 911, however, someone broke the drive thru window, opened the safe and stole approximately $1,313.48 from the safe. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY 3RD DEGREE: On Friday, January 1, 2010 at 4:35 pm, Tpr. M. J. Pitcher responded to the reported Destruction of Property in progress. The male complainant, 38, of Mechanicsville called 911 advising he observed three (3) male juveniles enter the vacant residence in the 26000 block of Tin Top School Road in Mechanicsville. Upon arrival, Tpr. Pitcher observed the three male juveniles exit the residence. They were later identified and one - age 15 and the two - age 14, all of Mechanicsville. They were taken into custody and transported to the Leonardtown Barracks for processing. They were later released to their parents pending further investigation by Juvenile Services.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 5:53 am, Robert Alan Mandley, Jr., 20, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. A. Moore for Assault 2nd Degree. Upon arrival, contact was made with the 13 year old female complainant who advised the suspect, Mr. Mandley assaulted her mother. Mr. Mandley was intoxicated and uncooperative during the investigation. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 12:11 pm, Daniel Edmund Madden, 23, of Great Mills was arrested by TFC M. B. Adams on an Arrest Warrant (T3-14253) issued in the District Court in Calvert County on December 30, 2009 and a 2nd Arrest Warrant (T3-14254) issued by the District Court in Calvert County issued on October 16, 2009. The charge on both warrants was Theft under $100.00. Mr. Madden was taken into custody at his residence in Great Mills and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

IDENTITY THEFT TO AVOID PROSECUTION: On Monday, January 4, 2010 at 12:18 am, TFC M. A. Moore was patrolling Three Notch Road in Lexington Park when he observed a green Buick exceeding the posted speed limit and initiated a traffic stop on North Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park. Contact was made with the driver, whose real name is Kevin Bryan Wright, 25, of California. He initially provided a false name and once his true identity was established, Mr. Wright was arrested, charged with provided a false name to avoid prosecution and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Monday, January 4, 2010 at 9:00 am, Gregory Boston, 51, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. E. J. Page for Theft under $100.00. Mr. Boston was operating a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis on south bound Three Notch Road when he was stopped at Ricky Drive in Hollywood for operating with stolen registration plates. A routine check through MVA revealed the tags were reported stolen to the Prince Georges County Police Department. A 2nd MVA check also revealed Mr. Boston was not licensed and the vehicle was unregistered. Mr. Boston was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 12:04 pm, Arthur Blair Stutzman, 53, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. A. Pilkerton for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Stutzman was operating a tan Buick LeSabre on Mechanicsville Road when he was stopped west of Carpenter Drive in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with Mr. Stutzman, a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Stutzman was found to be in possession of a wooden CDS smoking device and a baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Stutzman was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 6:00 pm, William Oliver Briscoe, Jr., 20, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. J. S. Gibson on a Bench Warrant (T3-14234) for Failing to Follow Conditions of Probation. The original charge was not to incur any serious motor vehicle violations. Mr. Briscoe has since been arrested for Driving While Impaired and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken into custody at his residence in Mechanicsville and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 5:05 pm, a male complainant, 31, of Lexington Park telephoned the Leonardtown Barracks and spoke with Cpl. J. L. Linger to report that unknown suspect(s) had stolen the rear Maryland registration plate from his 1994 Dodge Shadow. The Maryland registration plate (7AMP61) has been entered into NCIC and the investigation continues.
