MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 12, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

11-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR PLAYSTATION THEFT: On Tuesday, April 6 at 12:28 pm, a female juvenile, 11, of Hollywood was arrested for theft under $1,000.00. Tpr. N. E. Gresko responded to the 23000 block of Halford Lane in Hollywood for the reported Theft under $1,000. Upon his arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 40, of Hollywood who advised on March 16 she noticed her Sony Playstation, valued at $229.00 was missing from the residence. On April 6, the complainant was informed by an unknown source that the juvenile had acquired a new Playstation. On April 7, Tpr. Gresko made contact with the juvenile's mother and asked her to bring the juvenile to the Leonardtown Barrack for questioning. Once at the barrack, the juvenile confessed to taking the Playstation. The juvenile was arrested and charged for theft under $1,000 and released to her mother pending further action by Juvenile Services. At approximately 9:00 am, the Sony Playstation was returned to the complainant.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, April 6 at 10:08 pm, Tpr. M. J. Pitcher initiated a traffic stop on a white Chrysler on the Great Mills Road in the area of Tri Community Way in Great Mills for failing to drive in a single lane. Contact was made with the driver, Jake Allen Clark, 20, of Great Mills and the passenger, Eric Michael Clausen, 23, of Lexington Park. Both Mr. Clark and Mr. Clausen were found to be in possession of Marijuana. Both were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Wednesday, April 7 at 9:44pm, Tpr. M. J. Pitcher responded to the 41000 block of Norris Circle, Leonardtown for a reported assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with a juvenile complainant, 14, of Leonardtown who advised she was assaulted after a disagreement in the residence. Following interviews with the complainant, suspect and witnesses, Thomas Howard Johnson, 39, of Leonardtown was charged with Second Degree Assault and Child Abuse. Mr. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, April 8 at 1:57 am, Tpr. J. C. Hardesty initiated a traffic stop on Southbound MD Route 235 at FDR Boulevard on a Gold 2001 Toyota SUV for failing to obey the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver William Lawrence Crowell III, 25, of California and two passengers. While conducting necessary procedures Mr. Crowell III admitted to Tpr. Hardesty that he had marijuana in his possession. During a search of the vehicle it was discovered rear passenger, Rachelle Ashley Reynolds, 22, of California also had possession of marijuana in her handbag. Both subjects were arrested and transported to St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $1000: On Thursday, April 8 at 12:52 pm, Sgt. R. W. Redmond was contacted by phone at the Leonardtown Barrack by a female complainant, 52, of Huntingtown. The complainant advised her juvenile son, 15, of Huntingtown participated in a high school sporting event at Chopticon High School in St. Mary's County on April 7. Following the event property was missing from the individual's personal belongings. Contact with school officials has produced multiple incidents of theft from that evening. This case is ongoing in conjunction with Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, April 9 at 4:48 pm, TFC C. M. Evans conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wanda Lane and All Faith Church Road in Mechanicsville. Operating the green Pontiac Grand Prix was Michael William Degroat, 21, of Mechanicsville. Mr. Degroat admitted to having marijuana in his possession prior to a search of the vehicle. Mr. Degroat was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention. He is being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, April 9 at 6:17 pm, Tpr. N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop on a 1994 Ford Thunderbird in Leonardtown for a tint violation. Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle. Zachary James Yates, 19, of Hollywood admitted to having marijuana in his possession during the traffic stop. A search of the vehicle produced other drug paraphernalia. Mr. Yates was arrest for Possession of Marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Mr. Yates is being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Saturday, April 10 at 9:12 am, TFC M. A. Moore took a report for malicious destruction of property in the area of MD Route 235 in Mechanicsville. A 1991 Chevrolet Camaro was damaged while 'For Sale' on the private property. Obscenities were spray painted on the vehicle, any information regarding this incident may be forwarded to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, April 8 at 1:00 pm, Christy Marie Lowe, 23, of Lexington Park was arrested by a Maryland State Trooper in Charles County on a Bench Warrant (T3-13701) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on November 10, 2008. The original charge was Driving Under the Influence. Ms. Lowe was served at the Charles County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
