St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 20, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

INFANT KILLED IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT: On April 17, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian which occurred in a private driveway on William Franklin Drive in Valley Lee. It was learned Jason David Everhart, 33, of Great Mills, was pulling out of a private drive in a 1997 Chevrolet 1500 when he struck the victim, a 19-month-old female. The victim was transported by Maryland State Police Trooper 7 to Children's Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The accident investigation is being conducted by Cpl Brian Connelly of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team.

ASSAULT: On April 15, DFC Jason Maletto and Sgt. Julian Schwab responded to a residence in Great Mills for a disturbance. Officers learned that Kyle W. Hinchman, 23, of Great Mills, became involved in an argument with the victim over the use of a vehicle. During the argument, Hinchmann pulled the victim from the driver's seat to the ground causing visible signs of injury. Hinchman fled the scene prior to police arrival but was located nearby by Sgt. Julian Schwab and arrested. Hinchman was charged with second degree assault and released to the custody of the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
