Leonardtown H.S. Junior Selected New Student Board of Education Member


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 3, 2010)—St. Mary's County Association of Student Councils held elections for the Student Member of the Board of Education position on April 28 at the General Assembly. Miss Aditi Simlote, from Leonardtown High School, was elected to this position and will replace the current Student Member of the Board, Miss Emily Hall, a senior at Chopticon High School.

Miss Simlote is a junior at Leonardtown High School, and is a longtime participant in her school's student government association. This year, she was also President of the Leonardtown High School Student Council Association and nominated for the 2010 Maryland Women of Tomorrow Award. She participates in several leadership activities at her school and volunteers with various community organizations.

Miss Simlote will become an official member of the Board and will provide an informed student viewpoint to the Board of Education. While serving as the Student Member of the Board, Miss Simlote will be sharing information with students and the general public on an array of educational concerns. This student leadership position also includes being an active participant at student-related and school-related activities.
