St. Mary's County BCI Police Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 13, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.

GAY SEX AT MYRTLE POINT PARK: The Sheriff's Office received complaints of prostitution occurring at Myrtle Point Park. The case was assigned to the Vice Narcotics Division for further investigation. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that the park was being utilized for same-sex sexual encounters, however, no arrests were made. One subject was identified after he offered to perform a sex act with the undercover officer. The contact with that subject did not meet the criteria for prostitution. He was issued a notice not to trespass and immediately removed from the park. We encourage all citizens to contact the Sheriff's Office to report suspicious incidents or criminal activity. The Vice Narcotics Division will continue to monitor Myrtle Point Park and all of the parks throughout St. Mary's County to ensure that these areas remain safe and free from illicit activities.

SEEKING INFO ON MARCH 24 BANK ROBBERY: BCI Detectives are actively investigating and continuing to pursue leads in the March 24 armed robbery of the Bank of America located in Lexington Park. Detectives would like to interview individuals who were in the area on the day of the robbery or who have additional information which would aid in the investigation. A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the robbery. Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to contact Detective Corporal Robert Merritt at 301-475-4200 ext. 9042 or Crime Solvers at 301-475-3333. SEX OFFENDER ARREST: On July 9, the Department of Parole and Probation notified the BCI Sex Offender Unit that a violation of probation warrant had been issued for Michael Ray Anthony, age 44 of Park Hall. Detectives, along with Deputy Green began attempting to locate Anthony. Anthony was found on July 10 in Park Hall and booked by Deputy Green on the open warrant. He is currently being held in the St. Mary's County Detention Center without bond.

SEX OFFENDER ARREST: On July 5, registered sex offender, Keith Leonard Mackall, 47 of Great Mills, was arrested by Deputy Lacausi after an investigation by BCI revealed Mackall failed to register as required by Maryland statute. Mackall was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on his own recognizance. He complied with the requirements of the registration on July 7. Mackall is now residing on Coronado Drive in Great Mills, Maryland.

SEX OFFENDER ARREST: On July 6, detectives from the BCI Sex Offender Unit applied for and received an arrest warrant for registered child sex offender, Joseph Dee Medlin, age 48, who absconded from his Leonardtown address. Medlin's location is unknown at this time.

SEX OFFENDER ARREST: On July 6, detectives from the BCI Sex Offender Unit applied for and received an arrest warrant for Douglas R. Wilson Jr., age 32, for failing to register in accordance with Maryland statute. Detectives spoke to Wilson by telephone. Wilson advised detectives he was in Baltimore.

SEX OFFENDER ARREST: On July 12, detectives from the BCI Sex Offender Unit arrested Michael Paul Weber, 28 of Loveville. Weber is a convicted child sex offender who failed to register as required by Maryland statute. He is currently incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center on a $3,500 bond.
