MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (July 28, 2010) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT: On July 19 at 6:54 p.m., TFC Merkelson responded to West Lake Blvd. in Prince Frederick for a reported assault. Investigation revealed that following a traffic dispute on Route 4, the parties involved pulled over on West Lake Blvd and exited their vehicles. During the argument, Steven E. Yatsko, 41 of Greer, South Carolina, struck the victim about the face, head and back numerous times. Yatsko was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. The victim went to CMH with minor injuries and was treated and released.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On July 21 at 4:30 a.m., Trooper Smith responded to Scarlett Drive in Huntingtown for a report of a stolen vehicle. A 2000 Silver Toyota Camry was stolen from the driveway. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside. Investigation continues.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On July 21 at 9:30 pm, TFC Dawson responded to the 6500 block of 18th St. in Chesapeake Beach for a reported domestic problem. Lois M. Gignac, 46 of North Beach, was found to have a self-inflicted laceration on her wrist that required medical attention. She was also extremely intoxicated. She was taken into custody to be transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. Once outside the residence, Gignac yelled obscenities and disturbed neighbors. While at the hospital, Gignac also became disorderly, yelling obscenities and disrupting hospital activities.

THEFT: On July 25 at 7:59 p.m., Trooper West responded to the 300 block of White Sands Dr. in Lusby for a reported theft. An orange Mongoose style bicycle was stolen from the victim's yard. Investigation continues.

STRONG ARMED ROBBERY: On July 27 at 12:57 a.m., Trooper Bender was flagged down by a citizen advising they had been robbed. The victim advised that while she was at the Shell Gas Station on HG Trueman Road in Lusby, three black males cornered her while she was placing an item in the trunk of her car. She advised that they took her credit card and $40. All three males were described as have "dread lock" style hair, one had hair down to his waist. The investigation is being continued by the Calvert Investigative Team.
