MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 26, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, August 18 at 12:59am, TFC M. J. Pitcher conducted a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 4 and Maryland Route 235 on a 2007 Volvo for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, Emily Jean Lang, 20, of California, TFC Pitcher detected the odor of alcohol emitting from Ms. Lang's breath. A field sobriety test resulted in the arrest of Emily Lang for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. A search incident to arrest revealed CDS Paraphernalia on Ms. Lang's person. Ms. Lang was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for DUI processing and then transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center to be charged accordingly reference the CDS. Ms. Lang was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 23 at 2:10pm, TFC J. S. Gibson arrested Robert Johnson Bowles, 20, of Chaptico on a bench warrant (T3-14534) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on July 30 with an original charge of Theft Less Than $100.00. Mr. Bowles was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, August 24 at 7:50am, TFC E. J. Page initiated a traffic stop on a white GMC Suburban in the area of the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Maryland Route 246 in Lexington Park for a traffic violation. Following contact with the operator, Linwood Erwin Scayles, 20, of Lexington Park, TFC Page conducted roadside interviews with Mr. Scayles and the passenger, Sherman Devon Bush, 36, of Lexington Park. The interviews produced several criminal indicators, and upon completion of the stop, TFC Page requested consent to search the vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was given by Mr. Scayles. The consent search of the vehicle revealed packaged CDS. Arrested for Possession of CDS - Not Marijuana, and Possession of CDS with intent to Distribute were Linwood Scayles and Sherman Bush. Both subjects were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Upon arrival at the Detention Center, Mr. Bush was found to also be in Possession of Marijuana and additionally charged. Both subjects are held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, August 25 at 12:55am, TFC J. A. Pilkerton arrested Marcus Demetrius Yates, 30, of Mechanicsville, on a bench warrant (T3-14547) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on August 17 with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Yates was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
