MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 3, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Friday, August 27 at 8:08pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher responded to the 25000 block of Trojan Horse Lane in Mechanicsville for a reported assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the suspect, Gerald Maynard Weakley, 40, of Mechanicsville. Mr. Weakley advised he was involved in a verbal argument with the female complainant, 37, of Mechanicsville. Information provided by the female complainant, and the female victim, 14, of Mechanicsville, confirmed that a verbal argument ensured between Mr. Weakley and the complainant, however stemming from the argument the female victim was assaulted. Mr. Weakley was arrested for Second Degree Assault and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

FRAUD (PER IDENTIFICATION): On Sunday, August 29 at 4:33pm, TFC N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop in the area of St. John's Road and Brown Road in Hollywood on a brown Chevrolet van for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator and passenger, an MVA and METERS query revealed that the passenger did not match the MVA photo that corresponded with the name he provided. Following a roadside interview with the driver and passenger, David Login Scopin, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested for two outstanding warrants and providing a false name. Mr. Scopin was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. His identity was confirmed via fingerprints and an MVA photo. Mr. Scopin will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, August 30 at 1:30am, Cpl J. L. Linger initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Intrepid in the area of Maryland Route 235, north of Airport Road in Hollywood for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, Rudolph Lorayne Robinson, Jr., 53, of Brandywine, Cpl Linger returned to his vehicle to query Mr. Robinson's information. Information revealed in the query resulted in a K-9 scan of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted on the front passenger side of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed CDS - Not Marijuana. Mr. Robinson was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly. Mr. Robinson will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 30 at 11:39am, Tpr. R. L. Jackson arrested Peter Lewis Orazio, 22, of Lexington Park, on a bench warrant (T3-14555) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on August 26 with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Orazio was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, August 30 at 7:53pm, TFC N. E. Gresko stopped a green Buick on Maryland Route 235 at Maryland Route 5 for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, TFC Gresko observed an open beer can on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle. When speaking with the operator, Antonio Shavon Sewell, 28, of Hughesville, TFC Gresko detected alcohol emitting from Mr. Sewell's breath. Standardized Field Sobriety was conducted on scene. Information provided by Mr. Sewell resulted in a search of the vehicle which revealed 11 Marijuana cigarettes. Mr. Sewell was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly, he will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT: On Wednesday, September 1 at 8:02pm, Cpl. S. B. Koch responded to the J. C. Penny Department Store in the Wildewood Shopping Center for a reported shoplifter. Upon making contact with Loss Prevention personnel, Cpl. Koch was advised that a male subject, identified as Keith Randall Nelson, 36, of Leonardtown, attempted to remove property from the retail store without paying for it. Mr. Nelson was observed walking out of the store wearing shoes that had not been purchased. The property was returned to the Loss Prevention staff. Mr. Nelson was issued a criminal citation and notice not to trespass.
