LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 16, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following report regarding an ATV accident which resulted in a serious
injury.
ATV CRASH: On September 15 at 5:12 p.m., officers responded to Jaybee Lane in White Plains for the report of an ATV crash. Investigation revealed the victim, 27, of La Plata, was riding an ATV on a path when he lost control and struck a tree. Several people who were doing maintenance work in the area heard the impact and rushed to the victim's aid but he was unconscious. The victim was flown to a hospital where he was admitted with life-threatening injuries. A helmet was found near the scene but it is not clear if the victim was wearing it at the time of impact. The investigation is on-going.

INTERNET FRAUD SUSPECT ARRESTED: The sheriff's office on August 31 arrested Sheila Oleta Myers, 53, of the 6500 block of Pomfret Road in La Plata for her suspected role in an international internet-based "Mystery Shopper" scam. She was extradited to Pennsylvania Sept. 10 and was being held on $25,000 bail. Read more at the
