Waldorf Man Perishes in Vehicle Accident Friday


CALIFORNIA, Md. (November 27, 2010)--A Waldorf man died Friday night after his vehicle hit the rear of a tow truck that was protruding into his lane of travel on southbound Route 301 near Holly Lane in Waldorf. Maryland State Police troopers identified the deceased as Stanley Harten Wallace, age 73.

Troopers determined that a 2004 International tow truck driven by Jared Louis Wingate, 35, of Hyattsville, traveled across southbound US 301 in an attempt to travel northbound on US 301. The flatbed portion of the truck was stopped partially in lane number one of southbound US 301. Mr. Wallace was traveling southbound on US 301 in lane one in a 2007 Toyota Camry when he struck the truck. Mr. Wallace was ejected from the Camry and succumbed to his injuries.

Troopers were in the vicinity and heard the crash.

The case is being investigated by Trooper Moore and TFC Zimmerman of the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
