St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (December 16, 2010)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

Arrest photo.FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT, DRUG ARREST: On December 10, deputies responded to a residence on Connelly Street in Leonardtown for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Jamel Tiant Mitchell, 26 of Leonardtown, was engaged in verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Mitchell pointed a knife at the victim and spit in her face. Mitchell was arrested. Search incident to the arrest revealed Mitchell was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected marijuana. Mitchell was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault and possession of marijuana.

James Andrew Zalovick, 24 of Lexington Park, Md. Arrest photo.FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT: On December 12, deputies responded to a residence on Carmen Woods Drive in Lexington Park for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed James Andrew Zalovick, 24 of Lexington Park, was engaged in verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Zalovick pushed the victim down a set of stairs, choked and pointed a long gun at the victim. Zalovick was arrested and charged with first and second degree assault.

Eric Lamar Carter Pence, 23 of Hollywood, Md. Arrest photo.DISORDERLY CONDUCT, RESISTING ARREST: On December 12, deputies responded to Friendly's Sports Bar in Clements to assist with a large crowd. While on the scene deputies observed Eric Lamar Carter Pence, 23 of Hollywood, who was intoxicated yelling, cursing and drawing the attention of others at the business. Deputies told Pence several times to calm down and stop cursing. Pence refused. Deputies told Pence he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Pence attempted to resist arrest. After a brief struggle Pence was handcuffed. Pence was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Colin Shayne Madison, 24 of Hollywood, Md. Arrest photo.VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER, SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On June 29, Colin Shayne Madison, 24 of Hollywood, was served with a protective order specifying that he not enter the residence, threaten or abuse the petitioner of the order. The order is effective until June 29, 2011. On December 14, deputies responded to a residence on North Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Madison entered the protected victim's residence in violation of the order. A verbal disputed ensued between the Madison and the victim. The verbal dispute escalated into an assault when Madison threw a glass bottle at the victim. Madison fled the residence prior to the arrival of deputies but was located a short time later, arrested and charged with violating the condition of the protective order and second degree assault.

Benjamin Joseph Nicholson, 44 of Mechanicsville, Md. Arrest photo.SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On December 15, deputies responded to a residence on Miles Dodson Road in Mechanicsville for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Benjamin Joseph Nicholson, 44 of Mechanicsville, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Nicholson shoved the victim causing her to fall and strike her head. Nicholson was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
