Upcoming Meeting to Assist Calvert Businesses with Recycling Rpt.

Annual Report Helps County Meet State-Mandated Recycling Rates

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (March 13, 2011) – The Calvert County Department of Public Works, Division of Solid Waste, is hosting a series of roundtable meetings to assist businesses in completing the annual recycling tonnage report that helps the county achieve state recycling requirements. The first meeting was held on March 9 at the Mt. Hope Community Center in Sunderland. The next meeting is set for March 15, 3-9 p.m., at the Southern Community Center, 20 Appeal Lane in Lusby.

The Division of Solid Waste recently mailed recycling report forms to all county businesses. Forms are also available online at www.co.cal.md.us/residents/waste/recycling/. The report is due back by March 18.

County officials are encouraging business participation so the county can meet state requirements for recycling 25 percent of its waste stream. Officials say the meetings are also an opportunity for local businesses to seek assistance and offer feedback on how to improve their recycling programs.

Representatives from the Division of Solid Waste will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance. To learn more, contact Calvert County Recycling Coordinator Bill Teter at 410-326-0210 or e-mail teterwj(at)co.cal.md.us.
