MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 04, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, July 30 at 2:06am, TFC J. C. Hardesty conducted a traffic stop on a grey Oldsmobile Alero in the area of Maryland Route 4 and Maryland Route 235 for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, TFC Hardesty detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Upon identifying all occupants of the vehicle, a probable cause search was conducted. The search revealed a half empty container that had a plastic bag lodged in it. Upon removing the bag it was discovered to contain Marijuana. The passenger of the vehicle, Christopher Anthony Robinson, was determined to have ownership of the items and was subsequently arrested for Possession of CDS - Marijuana. Mr. Robinson and the operator of the vehicle, whom was arrested for DUI, were both transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Mr. Robinson was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Saturday, July 30 at 6:30pm, Tpr. E. R. Mersman responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Road to the Papa Johns Pizza for a reported intoxicated and disorderly subject. Upon arrival, contact was made with Steven Wayne Carter, 52, of an unknown fixed address, who appeared heavily intoxicated but was not causing a disturbance at that time. Mr. Carter advised Tpr. Mersman that he wanted to be locked up, and made gestures that he believed would help him obtain that goal. When advised that he was not being locked up but needed to leave the property, Mr. Carter vacated the premises. Approximately a half hour after Tpr. Mersman's original contact with Mr. Carter, he was dispatched to a new location on Great Mills Road where Mr. Carter was causing a disturbance. Upon re-establishing contact with Mr. Carter, Tpr. Mersman was advised by a witness that Mr. Carter was disorderly and yelling profanities while inside the establishment. Following information provided the witness and Mr. Carter, Tpr. Mersman placed Mr. Carter under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Sunday, July 31 at 12:55pm, TFC S. M. Van Bennekum responded to the 21000 block of Abell Road in Avenue for a reported domestic assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male complainant, 36, of Avenue, who advised while involved in a verbal argument with Donna Lynn Fanelli, 38, of Avenue, she struck him across the face. TFC Van Bennekum obtained additional information from the male subject regarding the incident and then made contact with the Ms. Fanelli, whom was sitting on the porch of the residence. Ms. Fanelli refused to provide TFC Van Bennekum with information other than to confirm that the male subject had been struck. Ms. Fanelli was subsequently arrested for Second Degree Assault and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, August 1 at 11:02pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry in the area of Maryland Route 234 and Horse Shoe Road in Clements for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator, he was identified by his Maryland Driver's License as Carlos Archie Gautier, Jr., 24, of Coltons Point. Mr. Gautier was asked for his registration and was having difficulty locating. While attempting to do so, Tpr. Wiesemann noticed that Mr. Gautier seemed extremely nervous and his hands were shaking. Tpr. Wiesemann then instructed Mr. Gautier to check his center console for the vehicle's registration. Upon Mr. Gautier opening the center console, Tpr. Wiesemann observed in plain view CDS in a plastic bag. Mr. Gautier was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Marijuana. A search incident to arrest also revealed additional CDS concealed in a cigarette box also in the center console of the vehicle. Mr. Gautier was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, August 2 at 4:28am, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann served a Bench Warrant (T3-15059) on Tanisha Latoya Nolan, 21, of California. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on July 26 with an original charge of Theft less than $100.00. Ms. Nolan was located in the area of Maryland Route 4 and Maryland Route 235 and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE On Wednesday, August 3 at 10:44am, Tpr. S. M. Ditoto served a Bench Warrant (T3-15067) on John Kendall Edison, Jr., 19, of Great Mills. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on August 3 with an original charge of Failure to Stop After Unattended Vehicle Property Damage Accident. Mr. Edison was located in District Court at the Carter Building in Leonardtown. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, August 3 at 9:36pm, Tpr. R. L. Jackson conducted a traffic stop on a red Subaru in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Lincoln Avenue in Lexington Park for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator, identified as a juvenile male, 17, of California, Tpr. Jackson observed that the operator was extremely nervous. A verbal exchange occurred between the driver and Tpr. Jackson ultimately ending a CDS being turned over to Tpr. Jackson. The juvenile was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Marijuana. A search incident to arrest, revealed no additional contraband in the vehicle. The juvenile was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed and charged accordingly. The juvenile was released to the custody of a guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.
