LA PLATA, Md. (December 20, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AND RECKELSS ENDANGERMENT: On Dec. 18 at 12:07 p.m., officers responded to the 4800 block of Brierwood Road and Pomfret Road in La Plata for the report of an intoxicated driver. Officers spoke with witnesses who indicated the suspect was driving through their neighborhood in a reckless manner and at a high rate of speed. In addition, several children (ages 12 and 9) reported that the suspect had pointed a long gun at them minutes earlier. Officers observed the suspect, James Earl Rohme, 33, of La Plata, walking up the street screaming and yelling. He refused to comply with the officers and was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, failure to obey a lawful order, disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct. Cpl. C. Long made the arrest.

OFFICERS INVESTIGATING MAIL TAMPERING AND MULTIPLE THEFTS: Between Dec. 17 - Dec. 18, during the overnight hours, unknown suspects rifled through hundreds of mailboxes in the Sentry Woods subdivision and surrounding areas in Waldorf and stole mail and packages. Officers located some of the mail strewn about roadways in nearby neighborhoods. A bulk of the mail was recovered at a nearby park. Officers returned unopened mail to the homeowners and left a note directing residents to contact companies with whom they do business about any missing mail or bills. Other mail was taken back to the post office. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspects. Officer B. DRUG ARREST: On Dec. 16 at 3:58 a.m., officers responded to the 9700 block of Cadwell Street in Waldorf for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon stopping the car, officers found several bags of Methylenedioxypyroualron (a schedule I narcotic) or "bath salts" and drug paraphernalia. The occupants, Tyrone Isaac Baylock, 24, and Jeremiah Baylock, 23, both of Waldorf, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer A. Fenlon made the arrest.

DUI CHECKPOINT: On Dec. 15, officers assigned to the Traffic Operations Unit, Patrol and the TAC Team conducted a DUI sobriety checkpoint near St. Charles Parkway and Gallery Place in Waldorf. A total of 425 vehicles passed through: 21 warnings, 17 citations and 9 repair orders were issued. In addition, officers recovered a stolen registration sticker.

BURGLARY REPORTED: Between Dec. 14 - Dec. 15, unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 16000 block of Prince Frederick Road in Hughesville and stole money and other valuables. Officers canvassed the area and recovered evidence on the scene. Officer C. Garner is investigating.

BURGLARY REPORTED: On Dec 13 between 6:45 a.m. - 3 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 5500 block of Irish Lords Place in Waldorf and stole a TV. Cpl. J Piazza is investigating.
