LA PLATA, Md. (February 23, 2012)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Feb. 23 at 5 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 6000 block of New Forest Court in Waldorf for the reported armed robbery. The investigation revealed the male victim was exiting his vehicle when a male suspect approached him, brandished a handgun and demanded money and property. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was described as a black male between 16 and 20 years old. He was about 5 feet 9 inches tall, had a thin build and was wearing black clothing. Anyone with information about the armed robbery is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Officer R. Garrett is investigating.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT: Sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 10:42 p.m. Feb. 23, suspect(s) attempted unsuccessfully to break into a residence in the 10400 block of Sextant Place in White Plains. The suspect(s) may have been driving a gold truck. Anyone with information about the burglary attempt is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Officer J. Campbell is investigating.

BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Feb. 21, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 1100 block of Cambridge Drive in Waldorf and stole property. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Officer L. Elliot is investigating.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Feb. 22 at 10:01 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Waldorf Cash Mart located at 3340 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the reported armed robbery. The investigation revealed a female employee was opening the business when a male suspect entered the store, brandished a handgun, ordered her to the back of the store and demanded cash. A second male suspect then entered the store to assist in committing the robbery. After obtaining cash, both suspects fled the store. The first suspect was described as a black male between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. The second suspect was described as a heavy-set black male between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. Both suspects were wearing black masks and black “puffy” parkas. THEFT: On Feb. 22 at 12:27 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officer J. Campbell was patrolling the La Plata Plaza shopping center on Shining Willow Way when he observed a vehicle parked at the Safeway Gas Station, which was closed. After Officer Campbell approached the vehicle’s occupants to investigate why they were parked there, he discovered they were in possession of 26 cases of bottled water. After contacting a manager at the Safeway store, Officer Campbell determined occupants of the vehicle had stolen the cases of water, which had been stored outside the gas station. Further investigation revealed the vehicle did not have tags and was unregistered. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Nanjemoy residents Gale Patrick Bradford, 48, Daniel Wayne Hoppe, 34, and Sirri Ann Garner, 39. They were arrested and charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before a district court commissioner.

ARMED ROBBERY ATTEMPT: On Feb. 21 at 7:31 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the parking lot of Asiana Chinese Restaurant located at 2570 Business Park Court in Waldorf for the reported armed robbery attempt. The investigation revealed a male employee was outside his vehicle and preparing to make a delivery when he observed a man standing nearby and pointing a handgun at him. The victim fled the area on foot and called police. Anyone with information about the robbery attempt is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Det. J. Austin is investigating.

FLEEING POLICE: On Feb. 20 at 2:04 p.m., Cpl. D. Belfield and Officer S. Stanley of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a radar assignment in the area of St. Peter’s Church Road and Sprague Drive when a Ford pickup truck without tags drove past them. When Officer Stanley activated his lights and sirens, the driver of the truck failed to stop. The driver eventually parked his vehicle on Williamsburg Drive and attempted to walk away but Officer Stanley apprehended him. Further investigation revealed the driver had a suspended driver’s license and the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. The driver was identified as Erik Illya White, 44, of Waldorf. Cpl. Belfield arrested White and charged him with fleeing and eluding police, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving while suspended. White was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
