Gov. Broadband Network Expands in Charles Co.

LA PLATA, Md. (February 27, 2012)—The Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department and Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School are one step closer to being connected to the County's Institutional high speed fiber optic network. Fiber optic cables for these locations have begun to be laid as part of the One Maryland Broadband Network (OMBN) State project. OMBN provides access to high-speed Internet broadband services for community institutions (e.g., schools, hospitals, community colleges, etc.) across the state.

"The OMBN program is providing much needed high speed internet connections to our most rural communities", said Commissioner Debra M. Davis, Esq. (District 2). "This is a step in the right direction in ensuring access for the entire County".
