MVA Offers 5 New License Plates to Honor Veterans

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (May 18, 2012)—The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) today announced the availability of military branch of service license plates. Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces are eligible to apply for one of the five new license plates which display the logos of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, or Navy.

“The new veteran license plates will allow veterans to convey their sense of pride in having served in the U.S. military, and they will also allow all of us to identify and say thank you to them for their service,” said MVA Administrator John Kuo.

The new license plates each have the logo of a specific branch of the U.S. military along with the word “Veteran” to the left of the plate name. Also available are five service branch license plates for active duty military. The cost is a one-time fee of $25 in addition to normal registration charges.

To obtain a branch of service veteran license plate, honorably discharged veterans must submit form #VR-120, Application for Military Related License Plates, and applicable fees to MVA and include a certified copy of their DD-214 (discharge papers) or written proof from the National Personnel Records Center.

For additional information and images of the new license plates, log on MVA’s website, http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Vehicle-Services/SpecialtyPlates/MilitPlates_Entry.asp.
